This is a demo for Laser200, with 2Kb ram and 2Kb vram. The computer was sold under different names in different countrys: Salora Fellow, Dick Smith VZ 200, Seltron 200 and Texet TX800.

I'd love to thumb this up for the surprising sensation of hearing CD Audio accompanying 8-bit visuals alone, but you've niched yourselves beyond anyone's ability to go .wav->.tap which means I too must wait for the video :P

To run this, you need a Laser 200. It may work on a VZ200 or other similar computers. It for sure doesn't work properly in any emulator we have found. Use a mixer or special cable to separate the left and right channel. You can also make a mono mix of the data track but then of course you won't have any music. We'd love to hear if anyone gets it to run!

As I don't have the hardware, I'd like to see a direct composite (or RGB or whatever the machine outputs) capture!
The live video is a bit too rough to really get a feel for the demo.

Very nice use of cramped HW. Almost feels like a trackmo with the turbo-loading from CD :D

Saw the new video, cool stuff!
I'm not that familiar with the Laser 200, but having dealt with the MC6847 for other systems I can see that there's some nice tricks going on at least! :)

Ah, a wild utube appeared! Now, after proper evalulation (well, at least as good as it gets without the actual hw), I can give my very well deserved thumb up.

Interesting that the default char set looks exactly like on CoCo/Dragon. Is this because it's generated by the MC6847?

@utz I'm no expert on what other computers use this chip... googling... Yes, they have the same graphics chip. On the Laser, the whole chip isn't used. There's not enough VRAM for the all modes, so they didn't bother connecting all the pins on the graphics chip. Only text mode (including semigraphics) and one of the graphics modes are available.

We found that you can trick the chip into shifting the screen vertically, repeat a scanline or doing FLD style effects by switching modes at the right time, but I don't know if this is a trick that's been done on the MC6847 before. It was pretty useful for this otherwise limited hardware. :-)

Only just spotted this one.

From the people who did the Sinclair QL demo. Very nice!

Cool just saw this for the first time, also CD Audio seems a bit cheating but cool with a special cable
