'to AND OR NOT to AND'...a binary raycasting rhapsody at 1024x768 with brute force SSE 4.1 code showing 16 variations of binary object combinations. Check the extra folders for more stuff on fast rendering with SSE on DOS. Youtube is here

Shaders 101 in 256 bytes. :) Nice resolution, too.

Nice smooth effect, but seems to suck up a lot of space, maybe in a 512b next

Nice little effect

@Hareiet: Yeah, in average about 4 Bytes per SSE instruction...I just wanted to give a start to that as it gives such a speed upgrade and should be explored more, as we hardly use the speed potential of modern CPU's within 256 byte sizecoding by now. With some extra instructions due to the dual issue pipelines we can even reach >50 FPS at 1024x768, but that's > 256 byte, check the extra and timing folder.

Could it be run on real HW? Is sse enabled by default in freedos (16bit real mode) or do we need to turn in on somehow before running this prod?

nice

@lvd: It basically runs only on real hardware, the capture is from real hardware, as DOSBox can't do SSE. May be other emulators do, don't know, though it would be too slow...you need a recent SSE 4.1 capable CPU and DOS (e.g. use standard FreeDOS from a USB stick to boot. There's no need to turn on SSE, SSE works flawless in 16 bit real mode). It run's perfectly on my Intel i6700 desktop at >20 FPS. It's intentionally made for high spec CPU's to show of the speed of SSE. I would think it works also on other DOS versions, just only tested FreeDOS.
