Wow, that's pretty solid, many effects, great music sync and design, enjoyed it from start to finish.

Wonderfully mid-90s.

wow, what a fun prod! Design was a little inconsistent at times, but that's era-appropriate, and didn't at all stop it from being a wonderfully warm-feelings-and-smile-inducing show. Thanks for making this :)

oh and that twister is smooooooth

I'm a bit jealous of how much you've improved with your DOS productions. :) Music fits very well, great twisters, light ball effect is nice.

Wow thanks for all the positive comments, you've all made my day! I agree a few of the design elements are a little inconsistent. Overall I'm really happy with how this turned out though, and I think we really are getting better each time we do this.

We're just working on capturing it from our Pentium 166 + VGA (sh0ck and myself here, having taken a day off work ... sitting in a pile of hardware). Capture is S3 VGA at 70hz > Kramer VP438 1080P60 Upscale w/ Gamma correction > Atomos Ninja V at 60fps > VBR MP4 > YouTube. It's not ideal - as capturing 70hz is near impossible; but it's a real cap vs. an emulator dump! For ref, there's a 60hz slightly-better-than-reality emulator rip someone attempted at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9YFGSDzAFeU It looks ok, but just lacks the soul of an entire room of capture gear and half-a-day of hard work :-P Thanks again for all the comments :-) It was awesome to work on q tune for this and (as always) a pleasure to work along side sh0ck, darkowl and bananaboy.

Delightful!

ctrix: The capture was mine, hope you don't mind. Sorry it lacks the analogue warmth of a hardware capture. :D I'm happy how it came out though.. smooth at forced 60 fps and no screen tearing, which seems to happen a lot in DOSBox even when I mess with the vsync settings.

Nice music and enjoyable, if not new, effects, accompanied by good design.

The Sexy twister is here, but where is the radial blur? Oh there it is!

Great DOS demo! Cool soundtrack, kickass radial blur effect!

did you tried mode 0x13 60hz letterbox CRTC tweak? i'm using it for years and it always worked as needed, without any troubles so far.

p.s. might require readjust your artwork if it was done with 320x200 incorrect aspect in mind but if it's 4:3 by design then everything is ok :)

Not at all! Massive thanks for taking the time to do it properly and watching it at 1-frame with no drops looked suuuper smooth indeed. It's very close on hardware... just not quite as frame perfect as you made us look!

Cheers! We'll have a crack at that VGA retiming trick for a re-cap! Thanks for the aspect ratio tip. Stretch can happen when we go prores HQ (from Shogun Inferno) to x264. Video signals huh? Tons of fun...

Very nice! Classic late 90s DOS style. Nicely done.

Hanged on my P166mmx/s3virge, worked on my P3/gf2mx, but only with emm386 off. Otherwise it crashed with a page fault in both computers.

Strange, the address of the page fault in CR2 is 12345678 hex... Reported EIP is 31837h if it helps.
rulez added on the 2022-12-11 00:10:47 by Nuclear Nuclear
Nevermind about the reported hang, with emm386 off, it works on the P166mmx too. Must have been something unrelated last time.

Fantastic demo and that soundtrack is absolutely amazing <3

Congrats, this demo breaks my PicoGUS GUS emulator. :D

Which is funny because another demo that uses Indoor Music System, The Secret life of Mr Black by Orange, is mostly OK but has some subtly similar issues.
added on the 2022-12-12 00:54:36 by polpo polpo
@nuclear thanks for the report. sh0ck and ctrix also reported the same hang running under emm386 when doing the capture. I'll look into that!

Installed it on my p2 333mhz and was glad. Really pleasant, because it's so fluid and cheerful. I like the orangey particle effects and layouts. Not deep but one I could see watch regularly because of its mood.
