Herr Paniq. Leider sagt Ihr Programm "The Video driver does not support vertex buffer objects" ...

Schade eigentlich!

the musicdisc should run with a recent geforce or radeon & latest drivers. it should as well work with non vbo-supporting cards, but slower (anyone can give me information on this?)

this is explicitly for dsl connections. you get 14 OGG tracks of very high quality, thats what the 90mb are worth. if you cant afford the bandwidth or time, then well - order a cd?

The frontend lags and chops like hell on my 2800+ with a 9700Pro, quite a feat. It also makes a rather intersting IDM remix of the tracks though ;)

took me some 3 hours to download and the interface takes all the power of my machine .. nice tunes though.

very good :-) would have been nice to be able to control playback with the keyboard though.. perhaps something to consider for a future project?

The tunes were good, but good grief, the "musicdisk" is nearly a musiccd...
For that size I would have expected something more advanced for the menu... seeking? More colors/effects?

- generally interesting style, some tunes are very good, some are too repetitive
- good concept+lyrics
- interface+visuals are not good
- music stuttering is bad
- memory usage is worse (what do you need 200 MB for?)
- bashing people with negative opinions about your product:

you are right about the mem tho. however you can guess what takes up the mem.

have you tried the update? it should fix the stuttering.

i bashed nobody. dont know what you are talking about.

I was referring to your "you have no live"-like comment referring to spengler. His comment was, perhaps, offensive, but if it is his opinion, then you should simply accept or ignore it. I just think that answers like yours lead nowhere, even if they are meant as jokes.
Well, this is my sorrow ;)

Ok-Good music (Where's "Heilige Säure" ;-). The interface is really nice and runs ok on my computer. The download is huge, maybe you could have saved a bit there (unnoticeably less quality OGGs), I mean 90megs!... Overall "rulez"

Ok. a music disc is so much more than just an overall, each track deserves attention. so here goes.

i-Good stuff the musician is playfull and this tune is a perfect starter. Good production etc. not much to put critics on here.

zwerchfell-One of the better techno/tech house tracks i have heard from sceners. Slowly progressing, good sounds, good punch. From a club perspective, it is a perfect "inbetween". a proper techno track.

masterbot- Still running tech stuff. This time the christian vogel way, wich is no bad thing. I think this is the first music disk where i have to look at and compare with commercial producers rather than sceners. Top quality this. A funny track, perfectly groving along with bleeps blops and umphs, a good representive for its genre.

Albert hofmann- playfull this. But i hate the lead. the production follow the line set by the first tracks...wich is bloody good. But i dont like this track, mainly because of the lead.

weekend feeling- hehe this is shit but a really good laugh, and the kind of thing you would play to an audience just to see the reaction. Its Breakbeat with a big B. Im more into a cleaner sound, but no doubt it's well produced.

Zeitmachine-I dont like psytrance at all. And this doesnt flow my boat, so all i can say is wellproduced. a good sound etc.

Protected- Either very fast Berakbeat or sloppy DnB. i dont know. and it doesnt matter. But it's way to hectic for my licking. Its a good idea with the humming, but it deserves a much better execution. And judging from the first tracks on this disc, that is no unreasonable demand from the author. Its little more than atmospheres, humming and a hectic beat....wheres the phat bass!!!!????

Tripstepper- an evil rumble, that would do well with some overpitching so its not just rumble. It's nice to hear dnb from the scene, no doubt this is quality, but its not a track that would make a floor boil. Grooving slovly along, and out into the nevermindedness...

astrosafari..- I love the lead, its disturbing ...no really, i think that is the right word. Again it's a good production, good ideas, and this time its executed to perfection. Well balanced all in all.

believer-ok that was a laugh. reminds me of some sunsurfer stuff, that electrosurfer tune. move on please.

instruction pointer- You dont sing very well mate :) But it's good to hear some vocal stuff, and this thing is as with all the other stuff, well put together. Well balanced between deepness and sharpness.

neurocomic- Again the author shows to be a tech talent. He now holds 2 of the very best tech i have heard from the scene EVER! Slowly progressing, good use of the sound chosen. good punch, good groove. Unlike the other this is only half an "inbetweener" with a metallic or solid lead after 4 mins going for the next 3. this would be an A side. i love it.

sekundaerliteratur- look at "I" no remarks.

last night - quality remix mate. Quite a piece of work, taking an upbeat song and convert it into a moody piece of UK garage. Fekking great!!!!

From a scene perspective this may be an odd music disc, as it contains NO "scene" music. But from my perspective, this is the best music disc released EVER on the scene. It is top club quality, and i know for fact that i would play atleast 4 of the tracks out if they were avaible on 12". Paniq you have skillz, im looking forward to the next one. Or even better, im looking forward to 12" stuff from your hands, because you have what it takes without a doubt. If you release stuff, link me to your label.

Oh yeah and the menu sucks ass btw..how the fcuk did you manage to make it run that slow and eat so much ram?? :(
rulez added on the 2004-06-22 15:27:06 by NoahR NoahR
wow iblis, thanks for the long review. thats something i am really craving for: feedback.

well, for the slowliness: the engine was meant to be for something else (much bigger), and the whole menu thing was scripted up and not very optimized since i wanted to meet a certain deadline - if i ever do a disk again, it will be less hungry, i hope.

i have pretty uptodate-hardware, maybe that is more a curse than a gift at the end. fast computers make you write slow programs.
added on the 2004-06-23 03:18:54 by paniq paniq
Im running pretty uptodate gear aswell, so i blame the code fully :)

Do you release 12"?
added on the 2004-06-23 12:42:09 by NoahR NoahR
not really. releasing vinyl is more a prestige thing, thus a source for financial misery, and way too costly. i think its good this way, been spread on the internet like its supposed to be.

if someone is interested in putting those on vinyl, contact me. (tho i doubt that)
added on the 2004-06-24 09:29:36 by paniq paniq
I fail to see how it shouldbe a prestice thing as such. It is easyer to use 12" when playing at clubs rather than cd's. and it doesnt work like that. you need to get off your arse and send the best of this to some labels, and hear their response.

Well, it has "Astrosafari Cybensis" in it (on it?), one of my favourite scene-related tracks (the nä-nä-nä part near the end :D), so it can't be a thumb-down, no matter what. :) The interface (and overall download size) was a bit over the top back in '04, but 15(!) years later it should be fine, I think. ;)
