i really liked the visual side of this demo.
but unfortunately the music sucked ass.

My favourite TMDC demo this year. Looked a bit messy on the big screen, but a lot better at home. Also the music rocks in my opinion :)

I had to watch this demo a few times before I felt the mood. Now that I "get it," I really like it. The music and flowing visuals set up a nice atmosphere.

The one that really actually used 'demo or die' which I thot was some sort of theme thing you were supposed to use.
i want to see this in mode13! :)

We were originally supposed to make this for Escape 2000, but ran out of time and dug the pictures and the music out from the depths of my hard drive.. and the effects, as you can see :p

Thanks for the comments. Looking forward to TMDC 8

Toxie, can you throw in some more info about the crash? I've heard of a similar case but haven't been able to reproduce it myself.

Gloom, I can compile 32bpp version of this if you insist.. but be warned it's looks very silly ;)

Actually I've planned to add it in as soon I get some space from the scene.org. We'll see

Okey, I've compiled a graphics version of Dead Blue People - just for curiosity. You can grap an updated zip file which contains both versions from http://virtualmile.net/files/dbp_traction.upd.zip

The textmode version was okay, music was good. The graphics version was way better, textmode just sucks. :D Btw, I love the speech synth. :)
rulez added on the 2005-07-10 16:36:45 by kaukojouko kaukojouko
What speech synth? You mean the speech sample in the .it? :)
added on the 2005-07-13 12:27:30 by Preacher Preacher
Looks nice and music is ok, except for the speech samples. Still I find this quite dull and there's nothing really intersting happening on the screen.

Now that I'm catching up on all the stuff that's been done on the PC, Traction is quickly climbing my personal favourite groups list. :)

After taking off the glasses, and sitting on the couch this was very enjoyable - j/k.

Quite some cool art, and the music is literally cool as well - well done =)

Trivia: this was originally attempted for Escape 2000 (or 2001, I don't remember) as a non-textmode demo, but it couldn't be finished in time because we had no idea how to code. Then after hearing about TMDC we dug up the few fx we'd done, the music and the art and did a conversion. Vulture did the engine and the groundwork and some effects, I tweaked the rest. I think it's silly, and a nice continuation from The Blue Man.
added on the 2013-05-25 15:47:21 by Preacher Preacher
A solid textmode demo with a nice techno track and mostly oldskoolish 2d effects.
