Nothing special. Should deserv a piggy for the words!
The old amiga is the new amiga. There is no such thing as new amiga. And Gamecube is much easier to code than PS2.

Do not work with ps2link.

It did work with ps2link for me (Using a self-built ps2link 1.46)

Here is ps2client's report, it hangs after loading the xl file (let's pretend the bozo who made that is visiting pouet).

Hitchhikr, I thin the issue is the loadmodule.. I don't your line 'loadmodule: id -204, ret 0'. Probably the xm.irx depends on a preloaded irx you don't have on your ps2link.

Nice to see y'all working together again.
It did seem a tad dated, but I'm just happy you're working together (: So thumb for that (:
video capture bitte?

knos: how come ? (it a slim 75004 with a quite recent firmware)

i liked it, the landscape rout and the massive amount of cubes at 50 fps were great to see. the code quality is high. but the music was definitely the weak part of the prod. i wait for more PS2 prods from you.

I'm that bozo, I wrote the soundplayer and the framework. It seems our irx couldn't be loaded. It works here using ps2link under Linux. Could you direct me to the loader you're using? Maybe I can help you.

You just came for the occasion, great ;)

I tried with xlink & ps2client (loadelf 3.30), i modifed ps2link 1.46 to run with armax:
http://perso.orange.fr/franck.charlet/temp/ps2link1.46_armax.zip
maybe that's the problem.
added on the 2006-12-30 16:09:03 by hitchhikr hitchhikr
I have an autoexec.elf now, but no readme, documentation, sourcecode, whatever. What should I do next? What is armax?
added on the 2006-12-30 16:26:15 by bifat bifat
The file is ps2link encapsulated in a simpler elf structure to please the lame loader of armax (which is one of the only way to run files on newer unmodded ps2s).

Notice that the console also hangs when i load your irx with ps2link directly, apparently there's something that's not pleasing it in your _start().

xernobyl, so what? Any "ARM+FB" device (Palm, WinCE, GP2X) is easier to code on than Amiga, and most of them have higher performance! So, in this sense, the phrase from the Demo fits PERFECTLY!

Unless you take it personally against Amiga, which it most certainly isn't.

Hitchhikr, we're out of luck then. So far all we can do on a slim ps2 is to run things from cdrom, be it the exe directly or via ps2link (works here with 1.2 and 1.46) -- loading from memcard never worked with our modchip. Regarding armax, I'll try to find it and see if I can get this to work, but don't expect a fix for this combination anytime soon. :-)

Mine is a PHAT ps2, no modchip, for all that matters. I can do a video probably at some point next week if people mail me. Otherwise I will forget. Off and out for new years eve luxurious weekend.

Make it yourself!

Anyway, the landscapes were pretty neat but on a whole, this was a mess. Piggie!

I've made a video, it's available on our server.

i remember it had some nice effects from the demoscene.tv stream.. i'll try to burn it on cdr to watch on the real hardware one of these days :)

kudos, i like it! effects, script and music work very well together. sadly, it didn't fit the taste of the audience.

Me think: "much easier to code on" => "less charming for demo-purposes"

Great PS2 production, nice effects, I liked the terrain+fog, the cube-made objects... but not really the music...

But I agree, the PS2 is a wonderful piece of hardware...

cool but the direction and music could have been better.

It's a shame, I think this prod should have ranked higher. Some of the effects were pretty neat, including some of the cube/pattern spawning scenes, and the terrain/fog. I hope to see more PS2 demos from you guys, keep it up!

jazz/electro music,
red smoke/lava height field, presentation words, title,
sine curves, octopussy alike, with cubes, 3D, and spiral,
more 3D forms with lots of 3D cubes,
fractal pyramid made of metaballs,
landscape with fog over flying,
sky colors with some clouds and a poem,
endscreen with some smoke distorted and vertical scroll with text

I liked that one a lot at the TUM party! Alternative platforms (means != PC) are just more exciting (to me).

The combined combo was certainly not the right competition for the release. maybe further production should be presented with more comparable productions.. so maybe also within a different party...

Even greater effects! I'd like to get a video of their latest PS2 demo now.
