This is really sweet, why was it disqualified?

A quickly made dynamic demo that's so dynamic that it might not work on some computers (such as the compo machine) at all, or might work once in a while.
If you only get a white screen with text on it, then something is wrong and you should try to run it again. I have no idea what's causing it and the demo works correctly on my computer, so the fix might take a while..

told you not to use it preacher. told u old computers wont handle it :D :D and use my ascii damn it :D. 3 times for 2 files is like having 6 times

From what I saw, it is certainly worth a thumb. 2, actually, to counteract wie8's "I am a troll and must post crap"
heh.. the track was wildly different each time I started it.. I got the white screen with only the traction logo, but when I turned off all samples, there were always something on screen. Coincidence? Did the track play from where it was last quitted or what?

Nice look anyway.

only get a white screen with the word "traction" on it.

Cool thing with fcked sounds i like

An interesting work. Of course the demo doesn't run on my laptop if I disable FSAA, otherwise it's all fine. Considering the nature of the demo an endless loop option could be nice.
rulez added on the 2007-02-18 19:33:52 by bdk bdk
I've got nothing intelligent to say about it. The soundtrack is lovely, and the lack of colors is very easily understood here.

Uh, L-system techdemo? :) This was boring each and every time I saw it :/

Cool. Shame it got disqualified... Might possibly have been better off in a wild compo anyhow.

tmb: because it didn't work on the compo machine.
added on the 2007-02-19 12:06:56 by Preacher Preacher
actually it did but preacher is trying to hide the evidence and make a new production with the effect with a lame excuse!

It worked after I restarted it three times :)

it's just highly dynamic
added on the 2007-02-19 12:22:10 by waffle waffle
but only on some computers. Now how highly dynamic is that? :)

nice work!
rulez added on the 2007-02-19 12:34:50 by Pit Pit
Was about to thumb down for being short and a bit lacking, but remembered it's dynamic in time. Nice variation to it, and good music.
rulez added on the 2007-02-19 14:11:15 by psonice psonice
nice concept. too short though
rulez added on the 2007-02-19 15:29:50 by zeebr zeebr
Done correctly this is a 32k, max. I can understand using mp3's for the music, but images for the text? Where is the world going.
But the concept was ok.
So pig it is!

As said for the third time: It didn't work properly on the compo machine.

nice concept and very stylish (as usual). thumb up for most of the runs - i wish the red lines would show more often though :)

rulez added on the 2007-02-21 16:40:53 by v3nom v3nom
i get the same error as many others: music starts, white screen appears with "traction" on the left.
pressing space brings up some info written with red, saying:
aika = 47003 spectrum = -1.#QNAN0
e1 alkaa = 63273
demo loppuu = 106410

division by zero maybe? spectrum being NAN stinks way too much, might hopefully be a trail for the bug..

Yay, it worked on my computer every time I ran it. And I love it. Looks and sounds great.

The sudden music change in the middle (at least every time I ran it) is quite annoying though. Could've used some transition or something between (apparently) two different tracks.
rulez added on the 2007-02-22 18:14:23 by teel teel
hey preach, i was wondering about this. "any" other small party let's coders run things from their own computer when something like this happens. and it was your OWN demo, so why didn't you? :D

Mmm.. mixed feelings, there are those generated things there but nothing more, maybe that it's partycoded explain it.

A bit.... short. Not so good at all.
sucks added on the 2007-12-30 19:24:51 by Th3_Hunt3r Th3_Hunt3r
And its a bit buggy on my system. Sometime it works sometime theres i only traction. Sometimes the screen is just white.
+ great concept
+ superb music
+ clear style / abs(traction)
- not that clear connection between audio and visuals beyond the mood. why not keeping it minimal and generate the sound as well, right out of the same structure as the visuals? (splines/quads<->rhythm/frequency, just an idea)
0 interactive mode isn't part of the concept. but as i moved the cam it changed the experience a lot... in an interesting way!

A thumb up for the different looking at each launch, even though it looks very 64 and lacks some polishing. :)

one scene, randomized, and it's fine
rulez added on the 2012-01-28 12:43:02 by Frequent Frequent
Feels quite unfinished. The one effect is alright, but not enough to carry a full demo - randomized or not. The music was enjoyable apart from the abrupt change of direction in the beginning.

Soundtrack by Ilkae? Autothumb.
rulez added on the 2015-11-19 17:02:26 by noby noby
cce: the music is randomized from various ilkae songs. I enjoyed making this and I think it's stood time quite well. It didn't work on the compo machine at Icons for some reason (blending modes were all fucked up) and I had the unique pleasure of disqualifying my own demo.
