+: Most complex parametric shape I've seen in a 256b (sincos polynomial with heavy use of 2π/3). Good constant/stack usage and palette setting, no dirty hacks.
–: Don't agree with some tradeoffs (dword copying, vwait, textmode, 2 full float constants), those ~20 bytes could be used better.

Very nice overall. ;-)

> Most complex parametric shape
After watching some of latest 256B goodies (Uzel, Do Not, Glenz) I realized IND has never released intro based on such 3D rotating object. It's not very innovative on 256B area, but most similar prods present slow/small/ugly shapes (chaos42g, Trefa, Yew ...), and I didn't want to code another cube or torus. After long hours playing with various objects, combinations, I found that Slippers surface is a fantastic unexplored material. Final intro uses its equations with minimal simplifications.

> Good palette setting
Yep, even Picard needed much more bytes for these colors. At the beginning I was using 64-colors black-blue-white gradient, but while zmora is bitch from hell, it requires hellish lookAndFeel.

> Don't agree with some tradeoffs
From my point of view, at the end I had 9 slacky bytes. I was trying to apply better movement, but tired and unsatisfied with the result I used them for closegraph (4 bytes) and speed optim (5 bytes, dword copying, also ensuring DH=0 for inner density loop counter). But you're right... probably I'm just getting old.

> vwait
Used in your 256B intros - when have you changed your mind?

> 2 full float constants
3, in fact. On less significant bytes I store ret, size and brightness factors.

> vwait
I use it only for intros that run too fast on my aging notebook (e.g. uzel had 1% cosines and 17% z-buffered pixels compared to zmora, so it needed vwait).

> On less significant bytes...
I missed those imuls at the end, my mistake. I thought only the first float was overlapped.

I definitely need to try BIOS palette fns and explore Bourke's site.

How are you vidcapping these, anyways?

1. Saving frames into BMP files. Using own frame-grabber which I'm linking with intro code, then executing (with DOSBox more comfortable - in background, and often faster).
2. Resizing frames with some smoothing filter - 640x400 for Capped.TV, 1280x720 for YouTube (original 320x200 looks like stamp, uploaded on YouTube looks like shit). Using FastStone Photo Resizer.
3. Converting frames to AVI - 30FPS, for exceptional fuckers 60FPS. Using VirtualDub with Xvid.

hi pirx, i never commented this one.
for me this is a very good intro (technically and visually speaking).
no thumb up since selfvoting is not a good idea otherwise I would have give one for sure.
