xteraco, some things I suppose are good to start:

- For coders: learn how oldschool effects works. It is much more fun if you try it by yourself than reading about it, but Google helps a lot also. There is a huge world to explore about computer graphics, it would take years and years... at least try to learn the basis. At first it is difficult even the most simple thing, later it starts to be easier and easier to understand and to create whatever you wonder. At that point, only speed and/or size optimization will be a problem... and that is other world, huge and interesant also.

- For graphic artist: Buy a Wacom. Watch paintings. Go to museums. And live. Start with realism. Learn about colors, shapes, equilibrium, contrast, shadows, highlights, expression, anatomy, nature, textures, composition. Remember to live. Paint every day. Read about the story of paint and differences between cultures. Try to understand slowly.

- For designers: Learn typography. Learn how to create logotypes. Learn about equilibrium, not only of objects, but also from free space. Lost the fright of the white paper (or screen). Learn from commercial designers and engineers the rules to do a transparent design, the one where the user feel compfortable because it looks so natural that it is not even consciously perceived (for example, flip-top box cigarrite packages are an excellent design, but only few people use to unfold it and discover it is that excellent). Learn from artistical graphic designers to forget sometimes the rules you learnt from the last phrase.

- For directors: watch films, tv spots, music clips, read about it. Watch Fantasia from Disney. Rhytm, emotion, pulse, storie... directing is creating poetry, music with audio and visuals. I'm have not enough knowledge about it to say more, nor I have for music composition...

Welll... now I go to bed.
