category: general [glöplog]
Yeah, but that is technically not trolling but crapflooding.

crapflooding sucks.

Perhaps I should have stated what I meant with moderation before I started this flamebait material. I simply mean that someone could jump in and remove pictures of people killing cats etc. and we would be spared truly sick shit and endless debates in picture threads. I mean, even 4chan.org have moderation and they can still post pictures of their dicks and tell eachother to gtfo.

Plus, I remember ps removing some nazi-swastikas out of the avatar gallery because he needed the good karma or something. But yeah, that wasn't the BBS...

1. The Pouët admins are in no way responsible, or willing to ever be, regarding their users behaviour.

It seems my subconcious selectivly choosed to forget the "or willing to ever be" :)

PS also has removed some pictures from the random images thread in the past. So it is being done.

4chan also has several FBI employees assigned to monitoring the board. And rumor is they have a backdoor to get IPs etc. Maybe we could also get that four pouet.

We also need giant animated avatars and footers.

Those forums are dead. Also, not moderated.

Wrong, the scene.org forums are moderated. There is not really much of a need for it though, apart from a few spam posts now and then.

at scene.se I have invented a system which I think is pretty much unique.

1) Moderators (or thread starter) can mark messages as "off topic".

2) These messages will be collapsed and marked with a red background, but

3) First time you see the message (when it's new), it will be expanded by default, but still with the red background (per user)

4) But then you go back to threads, everything that was off topic is hidden.

5) Users have a possiblility to post as off topic if they know it will be moderated anyway...

6) All this with fancy pancy web 2.0 stuff, but it doesn't has to be, but the collapse/expand feature is a must, easy to code tho. (javascript).

I'll give you a screenie (I'm pretty sure I've shown it before tho):

This system works. At least for us.

(btw, bonus is of course that nothing is really never deleted, even tho there is an option to do it)

Moderation within certain bounds sounds like a good idea.

I'd like to see Pouet "safe for work". So add my name to this petition...

Wasn't there some kind of system where you became a "pr0nstar" if you posted obscene images, then users could block you?

Does that still exist?
SFW Pouët.net = pouet.net without external images.

If your browser don't allow blocking external images but allow some sort of custom CSS, it's as simple as:

img[src^='http']{ background:red;color:white;padding:2px;content:'EXTERNAL IMAGE BLOCKED: ' attr(src); }

well at work you could only enable cached images, or disable images alltogether, or use a text only browser/stylesheet, or god forbid do some work.

Show me a single message board that works better with moderation in place. There is none.
