It's not all too bad looking, but goddamn is it a lot of cutscenes with some gameplay here and there.

It's definitely not as good as previous MGS's.

lol, 'in game cinematic' if you wish :) But in MGS4's case, there are bit's of game play in between the cinematics, so you get 'in game game play'.

It's basically Dragon's Lair, but with a worse frame rate.

MGS4 has the most crappiest textures I've seen in a current generation game! Sometimes (in some screenshots, I has no pitty satano 3) it even looks worse than Wii (zeh texturres)!
MGS4 has a 45 minutes cutscene. You can call that a demo if you want...

Catching sunny play Penguin Adventure on her psp while baking eggs for snake in the interactive mission debriefing before act 2 is just one of the many microscopic details that make this game so fucking awesome. (btw activate the radio for some awesome SCC chip versions of the metal gear tune :)
