And Chris Cornell's album is hilariously tragic.

ooooh i see, sorry i thought u were just talking about new pop music in general, not timbaland "produced" music :)
added on the 2008-11-30 17:08:55 by keito keito
No, this is all Timbaland produced (see my post on the last page) I did (and is still doing) quite a lot this year.

Cornell's album is not out yet, but 'Scream' is released as a single and it's fucking atrocious. For people who don't know who Chris Cornell is, he used to be the singer of Soundgarden.

Haha, I see myself as timbaland! :pimp:. I meant 'He did (and is still doing)..' :)

Well, the song in the Gods intro was Nation 12's Into The Wonderful, so probably Corr is sampling that.

Throw some quotes in as well, will ya?

Quote:
Helsinki district court plays host to Glenn Rune Gallefoss vs Universal Music in a Helsinki courtroom on Wednesday 17th and Thursday 18th December.
...
OK, evidence finished yesterday, decision expected Jan 24th. No one knows how it's going to go in the legal system, though if they actually consider the evidence properly, it's a no-brainer.

interesting news.
I would love to hear what the universal lawyers had to say about it. are there no protocols?

their credibility hinges on one studio guy swearing blind it isn't a sample because there are micro-differences between the Do It final recording and the SID, which are easily explained away by post-production (and even audio groove alteration), differences between individual SID chips, and differences in different SID playback engines

why Universal Music Finland though? GRG is norwegian, and tempest (i assume) settled out of court already.

Screw the sid differences, not a single word about how sixteen entire measures are reproduced verbatim? Musically, I mean? Sampling isn't the issue, it's outright plagarism.

Read the whole thread, dude. The musical part was part of tempest's lawsuit. GRG didn't make the melodies, so why should there be another lawsuit about ripping the melodies? GRG did the SID conversion, so this lawsuit is about sampling and copying.
trixter: read more closely - this lawsuit is about GRG, not Tempest. Tempest owns the IP for the song as a musical piece, and I assume he's done with his part of dealing with the case. GRG, however, owns the rights for the "performance" that was copied into the song, i.e. the arrangement and reproduction/remix of the song to the C64, which was apparently lifted 1:1 - in which case it very much counts as "sampling" in legal terms.

Gargaj: Since it is a MOD-file it also muddles the picture a bit, since it is sort of hard to describe to someone who have no clue what so ever about MOD music and/or sampling.
