paniq... seriously, you are becoming a bit megalomaniac.

This is a great Idea. And since it's hard nowadays for musicians to live from their art, this is a cool and creative way to raise the needed production money.

I support it!

So.. how did you come up with the required total of 6480?

hey paniq :)

don't expect to post anything on pouet without people flaming. it will never happen. it helps to spread the word tho, whatever the carrier might think about it.
the amount you raised in just a few days shows me that there really is a good chance of reaching the full amount in time.
Well im really looking forward to this production and hope you will never lose the faith and fun for it.
when the album is done (or you decide to release some tracks as teaser-EP early) one could even make a musicdisk out of it (or is a musicdisk lame if its filled with streamed and not tracked music? i dont know). think of it as a digital cd-booklet filled with some nice gfx, a jukebox and maybe a short text about each of the tracks , you know, for the scene :).

@dq
is he? sometimes a little artistic naivety can't hurt. im sure he has a lot more doubts about this thing than you will see in his writings about it. im just hoping it works out and gives us another great cc labeled musical experience.
but until that happens im gonna give a certain drumhead album another spin. the 'the seeker' tune is so unbelievable good, even without the visuals.

If an arsy bloke can get 25 grand for making a hobby website, I'm fairly certain an established scener dude like paniq and co. will manage the 6g, and 20 bucks for a potentially great gift/keepsake isn't going to break the bank this end. so good luck, and fwiw, I'm looking forward to it.

@dq: why? + what wysiwtf said

@emu: thanks a lot :)

@trc_wm: it's in the article. we can start production after 4455, that's three months of living expenses.

@wysiwtf: thank you a lot. most contributions so far came from hardcore fans. from here on it will be a tough battle. musicdisk: good idea, but i'm not really good at doing musicdisks, plus they translate badly to different platforms, and i want to have this stuff working for everybody.

@m0d: thank you very much! :)

+1 for paniq and his rationale, despite the standard derogatory comments

@psonice: sorry, I overlooked a question by you.

Quote:
Btw, dividing your funds so far by the number of donors, it seems the average donation is quite high.. do you see that, or do you get many small amounts plus a few huge ones? And who is paying a lot, do you know? is it fans, or random people on the internet?

I don't have the exact numbers right now, but low donations (below €10) are rare, a few spend €10 or €20, but most donations go up to €40 and beyond. I suppose it's because people want to get the additional rewards. Most initial contributions came from demoscene friends, with a lot of unusually high ones.

I believe we reached a point where all close friends and core fans are in the boat. CreativeCommons.org tweeted about the project to more than 300,000 followers, and we got only about three or four small contributions out of that.

My guess is that people a.) want to wait and see if it works out, wrongly assuming there's plenty of other donors, b.) want to spend money on the final product, without realizing that we might not get there, or c.) it's the end of the month, and we can expect more contributions trickling in around June 2th and June 15th, the second paydate.

chapeau to keeping the target amount low, essentially showing that you're perfectly fine with living a sober life during the period. but then again,

Quote:
Take two creative individuals. Experienced craftsmanship, thought, humor and love. Intricate rhythms. Rube-Goldberg machines. Mad scientists. Monks who know kung fu. Meaningful lyrics, and great acoustic contributions from friends. Put it all into a studio in Hamburg, Germany, stir and - powered by your donations - let it simmer for three months.

WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU???

not really, i just think you're making yourself look like a jerk. but hey, if that's your thing, go right ahead. me, i think you're the most pretentious sellout attention whore of the scene. but that's allright!
