Oldschool PC demo coding

category: code [glöplog]
i had en et4000 and coded vesa stuff on it. et4000 was the gus of the video cards :-)
I'd suggest Watcom as well but Turbo C++ has a great embedded documentation for C++ libraries. Nowadays we have infinite documentation on the web but Turbo C++'s help docs really helped me back then. If you haven't memorized all C++ libraries yet, you may give it a try.

I have an et4000 in my 386 which is back in Greece.
It makes 85fps with a rep stosd or also in the benchmark of the demo Dx Project (I always use this to benchmark all my cards).
This is the fastest ISA I have here.

Oldschool PC demos, no matter if 8088 or 286/386/486 is great. Keep up the good work!
I might try something targeted on my 386 oneday.

What about S3 based cards? Cirrus Logic? ATI MACH32/64?

I'm pretty sure some of the sorcerers' stuff might have run on a 8088. =)

Only Summer Holiday and Nope. The rest require something slightly faster (like 10MHz 8086 or 6MHz 286).

Nope is interesting in that it appears to be mixing three 1-bit audio loops together -- neat trick!
