What? Evoke already?

category: parties [glöplog]
given that i now know how this stuff leaked and that kabuto seemed to find about the same "hole" there was no sniffing neccessary. you could get the xml for the beam-system from the partynet and then there was this very short timeframe where we tested the pricegiving and the xml had the results...i guess red was just lucky to find out in that precise moment. no sniffing needed there...really.

yeah, i also saw some beam slides on http://ftp.party, and there was some xml file which i didn't examine further, guess that was the same thing...
Shit happens! The party is over, the prize giving held and no use crying over spilled milk!

yeps, flt came forth with some demo with particle-ninja-robots and believe it or not but mfx did a sequel to deities!
That Wikileaks is really mad stuff. They even published this recoding of my first party coding at Evoke - what's next, a secret list of illegal opcodes? Damn internets ;-)

Does anyone know when the various TV shows that were recorded at Evoke are going to be broadcast?

To those who were unhappy with the stuttering of demoscene.tv's stream: It was their fault. While Evoke had pretty crippled internet speed (DSL line only had 340KBit/s upstream, we beefed it up with a bunch of 3G connections), we did reserve 1 MBit/s upstream for demoscene.tv + scenesat. Sadly the demoscene.tv guys abused the bandwidth assigned to the IP that was supposed to do the encoding and sending out to SURF IMAGE GALLERIES AT FACEBOOK, eating away all the bandwidth from their stream. Due to this in the end we decided to only give reserved bandwidth to the sane guys at scenesat, so that the visitors have some bandwidth left, too.

KeyJ: the first camera team recorded footage together with xxx about demoscene/evoke for the german culture-/zeitgeist-show "EinsWeiter" that runs daily at 20:01 at "Eins Festival". the exakt date of broadcasting is atm unknown, I will publish the date here in the thread, as soon as i know it.

the second camera team recorded for arte's show "Kurzschluss", a short movie magazine. they did several long interviews and will broadcast a 7-min-report about demoscene in german and french language within the next month or so. (arte is a german/french broadcaster with cultural/art focus) both dates will be announced here.

pandrr: Technical question, technical reply. I don't see how this is related to me liking demoscene.tv or not.

next time, only reserve band width for fixed destination ip's :)
We didn't know the IP of the master relay in beforehand, that's why we reserved the bandwidth based on the IP the evoke network team had intended to be used by the dtv streaming encoder PC. Dunno if due to communication issues the dtv guys used that IP for their desktop PC they surfed with, or if that PC has been identical to the streaming encoder or whatever - but in the end this was causing trouble for both visitors and scenesat, so we've removed the corosponding QoS rule to make sure both scenesat and the visitors had some of the scacre upstream bandwidth left.

All in all for next years Evoke we'll try to work with the Evoke orgas to make sure that at least a second DSL link can be added to the bundle, 1x crap-DSL + 5x UMTS simply isn't enough for such a crowd, especially with all the outgoing streaming traffic.

if it wasnt for viprinet we would not have any possibility to stream anything at all, so thanks for that. unfortunately netcologne, t-online and qsc were not abled to help us beforehand because the copper-wire into the hall cannot bare more than the 4 mbit dsl...at least that is what they say. we still hope for netcologne brining fibre to the building and then give us 100/10 mbit connection...should have been there this year according to their plans, but you know how it is. maybe next year we will have it, or decide to actually put some money into that one big problem of the location that is still there...thanks to viprinet for helping us thus far thoug, and for offering help to find better solutions in the next year. we know this is something we have to work on...somehow.
