Elevation in Agadir

category: offtopic [glöplog]

Today my wife and I went for a burger house to have diner. After a nice burger I had some time to kill as I eat about 3 times faster than her... :(

Anyway, I was looking on the on-wall screen watching a yet-another scenery presentation of forests/mountains or flowers - the kind of presentations that your mother will forward you (even that you told her 50 times not to forward shit).

When I saw an image of a fogy mountain I though "wow, strange how reality really look like what IQ did in his 4k", toke me about 10 seconds to realize that this is the actual intro. See video.

Anyway, this raise couple of interesting things:
1. The guys that put it there, they probably didn't realize it's a generate and not reality - how cool & strange!
2. What about copyrights?
3. Is the use of demoscene outcomes in non-scene related is common?

Hahah WTF? :D

Well, my best guess is that they've been running some "cool videos from YouTube" session or similar.

I'm not into copyrights, so I have no clue...

what a coincidence.. There's an electronic music festival going on (PHONO) this weekend in the city where I live, and on Thursday while there, I was thinking "this looks a lot like elevated!" when watching the vj stuff going on on stage (not a 100% positive it was actually elevated, though)..
who knew Elevated and ragtime went so well together :D

In fact it happens all the time. For example, a Hungarian house band named Soho Party used Second Reality as a music video in the 90s, with the guys genlocked over the original effects. I remember some crap party mix CD that was sold with one of Ward's graphics on its cover. These are just two examples from Hungary.

i saw kasparov being used to show off some 3d goggles on some game/hardware thing in holland. so yeah.
I once saw some scene gfx being sold - printed on canvas. In an art gallery! I collected a lot of scene gfx back then and recognised it pretty much straight away.

I really wish I'd asked the people there about it, as I've no idea if it was ripped or sold by the artist. I can't remember which pic it was either, apart from that it was mostly blue and had a scan line effect. The gallery was a small place in Cornwall England from what I remember.

State of the art was projected on big walls on some early 90ties hardcore/gabber party in the Netherlands.
