Nordlicht 2013 date has changed!! 19th - 21st JULY (details inside)

category: parties [glöplog]
It was really great to see that it was possible to double the size of the party while still being as cozy as last years garden party!

Also great thanks for the surprisingly high release quality, which is not that usual for a smaller party. DJ sets kicked ass, too!

About the fuckups... well, moving to a different location and enlarging stuff always uncovers a lot of details not taken into accont before, and the lack of proper preparations in time accumulates and bites back when it is least desirable. Should be fixable with some more planning and testing ahead.

having more beer than getting bought in the end is always the way to go!
Sunspire should/could get a deal where he gets delivered one truck of booze and only has to pay whats empty afterwards, plus the import ofcoz, which should be a set amount of money.
Actually that's what he did, hardy.
The vendor complained afterwards that we didn't sell enough beer and so we are not a party to factor beer to because it's not worth it, he shouldn't have done it and didn't want to take the rest back first, as far as i heard.

Didn't want to take the rest back??? If that was the deal (assuming there were no other conditions, i.e. about minimum amounts being sold), he should do that - even if it wasn't worth it (in retrospective).

he did take it back, just complained a lot and billed some extra cash for the effort.

extra cash? I assume that was not part of the deal either... Get another supplier next year... preferably supplying Grolsch ;-)

Did you find my Grolsch beer glass BTW? I forgot it... :-(

Bombe and Widdy have provided two great sets of pictures from Nordlicht, now available on Slengpung! Now fill in those questionmarks in the pic descriptions!
Actually he only didn't want to take back the few additional crates of beer we gathered through our visitors (which he normally does but not this time). We sold 15 crates worth of beer, out of 70, which was a surprise because at last year's Nordlicht we sold 20 crates to 50 people, this year we had over 100 visitors. The nearby supermarket might be a reason too. Ah well ... Still the seller was very unfriendly and did not only fuck up the total amount to be paid but also delivered the goods one hour too early when there was no one around and just dropped them there.

I would like to thank all the people who were involved in making this year's Nordlicht a reality:

Organizers: Everyone did their very best to ensure the party kept running as smooth as possible and they stuck together even in the trickiest of situations when things seemed to go out of hand. At no point in time did I feel that they didn’t take good care of our visitors. From early party planning half a year ago to countless nights brainstorming ideas to actual running of the event – they have always wanted to bring you a party that you, the visitor, would enjoy. And I am very proud of them.

All visitors: You have come from near and far, brought a ton of good vibes and scene-love to the party place and were the nicest people to hang out with. Thank you for making this a unique experience to everyone. We love you guys.

Sponsors: I seriously appreciate your trust and support you’ve given us throughout planning and running the party, Nordlicht would not be possible without you. I want to thank dfox in particular for providing us with the compo hardware and orga equipment, red for the super stable Viprinet internet access, DJ Bernd for the superb sound system, RbR for the switches and everyone who bought a supporter ticket. Your money was used to add or improve party features and it’s what made the BBQ and breakfast such a big success.

Compo Participants: With 84 releases you have shown us a tremendous amount of support for a party this size. This was undoubtedly boosted through the large number of C64 and Oldschool fans at the party and I am simply amazed by the sheer quality of the prods. I wish we had not caused you such a headache during some of the competitions on friday / saturday, this is clearly a field where we need to improve and we learned a valuable lesson the hard way.

DJ’s: It was really great to have you with us last weekend. You have put a lot of effort in your sets and the dancing crowds reflected that. Sadly this was overshadowed by Nilsmusic getting ill just before the party and a faulty turntable for Franky’s set, I am very sorry about that :(

Apologies:
I would like to apologize to DJ Arvy for playing one of his remote entries in the wrong competition and the other track not at all.

Also apologies to Sphinx, Yazoo and others who I don’t recall the names right now (I’m very bad with names) for not properly announcing your competition entries in the oldschool competition. The “end of compo” slide showed up a few times where it wasn’t supposed to because we moved stuff around after it didn’t play the first time around. We were greatly overwhelmed by the many hardware changes during that particular compo. I also learned that one can never have enough backup cables and adaptors because those break easily.

Ok this has become very long now and I probably addressed only half as much stuff as I wanted to. As closing words in this post I want to tell you that the location owners of Westend were very pleased and amazed with our party and would like to have us again next year.

From the pictures, the venue looks downright awesome! Would there be a chance not having it that close to Solskogen next year? I'd really like to visit. It's only a 5 hour drive, and if I manage to activate the rest of the danes, it'll be even cheaper. And for all I know:
- Great venue with nice outdoor area with barbecue
- Low travel expenses
- 32k Executable Music Compo
- Cheap german beer at the infodesk
- A place to put down an air mattress and a sleeping bag. Don't care about noise. That's cancelled out by alcohol anyways ;)

What more could one really wish for?

Punctured: there are even 2 dedicated sleeping areas. Sleeping in the main hall is somewhat impossible anyway, it's getting fucking hot in there. Besides that also from my side: Really awesome venue and party. It really was as cozy as last year and also, there was less compo delay than last year ;) Next time just get some more batteries for the microphone so you can announce that the compo ain't over, or do it as other parties do it as well: show the entries at the beginning of the next compo so ppl will be inside again. But nevermind, was a great party anyway and it really got my gf into the scene :)

It's funny, because it's true. Went to the gasstation with my "Hello my name is Penis"-sign on my shirt to buy four 9v blocks for a gazillion euro. The salesgirl was somewhat rude, I wonder why...

This was a great party, thanks to everyone involved.

@SunSpire: did you get any sleep at all?

Fun facts:

* The beamer chair and all the cords suppressed shaking very well. Probably much better than the beamer support belonging to the party hall could have done (it was very shaky, too small and also likely too far away from the bigscreen)

* We found dead flies trapped inside the C= logo. So it finally served a purpose, less annoying flies for everyone :-)

Apparently, that one was mounted in a quite obscure place this time!

Btw, we have some shirts left: 2x XL visitor-shirt 2013, 1x XL orga-shirt 2013 and 1x M visitor-shirt 2012. All other sizes can be ordert from Topy (topy@untergrund.net). So there's still a way to get a shirt when you missed your chance at the party.
