I need to be fit. Any suggestions?

category: offtopic [glöplog]
You must talk with your doctor about this. Your problem can be solved but it requires daily exercise, a change of habits and making use of your will force.

I know, and nobody likes fat people, especially those who are whinning. There is also this anti fat-shame thing on the internets, but I noticed too much hate. People "open minded" say yes to gays, yes to openess, but if it's fat people, HATE. Because even if I see a fat person it feels ugly, and ugly gives me message that ugly person = bad person. That's why people are not gonna like fatties and this whole revolution. It's like asexuals. Who does not like sex? If you don't like sex or music then you are instantly a bad person they say.

But I don't mind about that, I am not harmed by fat-shame, but I do adore those anti-fatshame (although it's a bit weird even to me) and those asexual revolutions, it's too taboo to say you are something of these and it's all fine and beautiful.

Work out. Walk everywhere you can. If you can't, go by bike. It will actually suck the first 2-3 weeks, but you'll get used to it and notice it's not that strenuous any more.
Consciously DON'T buy sweets etc. at the supermarket, but instead buy apples, carrots, oranges. Whatever you like as a healthy snack. Stack up on that stuff at home and at work to cheat yourself. When I have the munchies I start off disappointed (fuck, no sweets), but after 2 carrots I usually forget I wanted chocolate and am too lazy to go buy some... ;)
Oh, and don't forget to drink enough water.

About the carbs vs fat thing: I do eat carbs nearly every evening, but nothing happens... So I guess it heavily depends on your body.

Losing weight is difficult. You really ought to see to it that you do not gain weight at first place. However, once you have gained a lot of weight, it is too late.

Optimus: As said do something. You won't get any (healthy) results just by changing your food. You don't need to work out 2hrs a day. Start with small steps. So you gonna get used to it and you won't be disappointed. Healthy food and sports have to go hand in hand. And if you want to start jogging make sure you get the movements of your feet checked so you can get the right shoe. Otherwise you might fuck up your knees and stuff. And if you say the food stuff is an addiction ---> see hams post above. Good luck :)

What a pile of horsecock to say, the fatter you get, the more important it is to loose it again. Yes, it isn't easy to loose weight, but it is NEVER to late!

.. and what sensenstahl said!

It also depends on the carbs you are eating. Complex carbs (Low Glycemic) are your body's best friend. They are necessary to burn fat and speed metabolism.
Every personal trainer or dietitian who says high-protein / low-carb diet will help you lose weight or build solid muscles is totally wrong.

Opti - phone a friend and walk away!

A few months ago a mate of mine and I stared at each other blearily over our 6th or 7th beer on a Fri. night and decided we never got to talk to each other when we weren't drinking.
So we started walking my dog twice a week in the mornings before work.
We walk about 5-6kms at a time at a moderate pace. It's quite pleasant as we usually walk thru open bushland so at least we're not breathing car fumes. It really only takes about an hour out of our morning which would normally only be spent doing things like browsing pouet or watching the news etc. We often discuss our lives small victories and defeats - we've both found that we have laugh a lot more with our discussions than we did when we drank together.

And guess what - we've both lost weight!

So, by changing our behavior in a small way, we've brought about some positive changes for ourselves and with a relatively small amount of effort we've improved our friendship and health! Give it a go.

*We do sometimes need to discuss planning, times and routes, a few refreshing ales on a Friday afternoon often assists us at the sessions!* ;P

Yeah, even such a small amount of exercise does wonders if your baseline is close zero. I lost something like 15 kilograms in a year by simply starting to commute by foot and reducing the amount of candy I ate. Every little step you take helps.

Also, I'm not sure if anyone mentioned it yet, but drinking alcohol is probably the worst thing you can do to your weight. It contains a lot of calories in itself, fucks up your metabolism and makes you both tired and crave for currywurst, kebab and fries.

Forcer: I honestly got no idea about that stuff. I usually eat lots of whole-grain bread in the evening, which at least doesn't seem to make me fat.

Preacher: But beer is low on carbs AND fat and tastes good. So confused now... ;P

raer, yeah, that makes sense, whole-grains are complex carbs. Whole-grains take longer to digest which will help you feel full longer and are therefore vital for weight loss.
They also help stabilize your blood sugar.

Even light beer will have more calories then a shot of vodka. I would go with the clear 80 proof of vodka around 65 calories per shot.
also..
The reason I stay away from beer it takes a lot to get me drunk.
