does ZX Spectrum platform needs to be subdivided?

ATM Turbo was Spectrum all the 90s and 2000s (read the zines) and still is.
NOPE.

Fake "Spectrum" FPGA prods are still in Spectrum category. And any guy can come with next random FPGA hardware and post his stuff in any retro machine category.

Plz! Not AGAin!

What if I'll take some C64 fpga core and then build upon it some totally alien gfx hardware and write some prods for it -- will anybody then:
1 -- put it under C64 label?
2 -- spawn a new category for me like enhanced C64?

like atm do, yep? FYI: ts-conf is able to show sprites over 6912 screen. so, where is "totally alien" gfx, dude?

Having a genlock-like feature is a key for being a Spectrum for you? Especially when the author of that is a friend of yours?
ROFL )
Sam Coupe is also ZX? It was manufactored BEFORE atm.

Ha-ha, nice to see trolls react -- all the same nicks in a burst -- every time :)

Whether ATM-Turbo2 (official name given in the beginning of 90ies in Russia, when nobody knew about bank cards and automated teller machines, so mockeries on it only show one's attitude) is ZX Spectrum or not is highly controversial topic. Anyway, it is part of ex-USSR ZX history and no one can deny it. Also it is rather old mod -- from the beginning of 90ies, more than 20 years old now, computer itself is made mostly on 74xx series IC.

It is also controversial whether we should put ATM Turbo demos under the same label "ZX Spectrum", if we feel it is indeed ZX development, or under different label if we feel it is some crazy mindless enhancements (well, JUST new vmodes and slightly faster CPU).

But still some invariants: ZX (128k one, as 48k and 128k are under same label) is 28 years old now, ATM Turbo is 21 years old now, so-called 'tsconf' is around 1 (ONE) year old (and is still updating/adding new features).
ATM Turbo is made on 74xx series IC and takes around 100 IC. How many 74xx ICs are needed to re-create 'tsconf' features? Btw, 'tsconf' platform fully utilizes potential of modern FPGAs, unlike ZX-Spectrum and ATM Turbo platforms, with ZX being made on end-of-70ies technologies, and ATM Turbo, based on 74xx IC, must be counted also as 70ies technology) .
What could be merely considered 'old-school' platfrom? A platform 29 years old? A platform 21 years old? A platfrom 1 years old and younger?

So some conclusion: IF ATM turbo and ZX should be put under different labels, WHY the hell then ATM turbo (21 years old platform) should be put under the same label as 'tsconf' platform (contemporary platform)?

OK, then put Amiga and ZX into one platform coz they both are 20+ years old.

Ha-ha, nice to see mr. Woodpecker react :)

The answer: bcoz it's impossible to create own category for every zx branch. if you treat alien mode in atm as spectrum, THEN ts-conf should also be spectrum. this is THE ONLY reason. actually, ts-conf extension is NOT a spectrum AND atm is NOT a spectrum too.

what about your question about alien gfx? seems you accidentally forgot about it...

Do personal insults count as failure to invent new arguments?

you have missed the question. what's you can do the best - knock-knock-knock. so don't take offense.

Okay motherfuckers, ZX is now officially subdivided.

ZX Spectrum remains the platform for demos on the stock ZX that run on the original unmodified rubbery monster
ZX Enhanced is the new category for ZX clones, including but not limited to the Pentagon, Pentevo, TS-Conf, anything that doesn't run on the original, but runs on the same Z80 instruction set.

Two notes:
- It is perfectly possible for a demo to be in both categories if it runs on both.
- This is as anything subject to change at any point so chill.
