"New" 486-class DOS demos?

category: general [glöplog]

Not long ago I built nearly the most powerful 486-class DOS machine you can put together (AMD 5x86 160, GUS Classic, ET4000 W32p VLB (40MHz) video, etc.). It's a re-creation of the machine I was using in 1996.

I've grabbed many of the demos of the day and have had fun re-living those memories, but I am wondering if any groups ever target that level of machine in recent demos (something like Amiga groups still code OCS/ECS demos from time to time).

Does this ever happen? I'm not finding a way to really slice through the prods search here to determine if these exist. Anyone have any examples?

Thanks.

Mangareva should fit into that mold :), at least theoretically. There might be some problems with GUS though, iirc it was developed on SB at least.

(While we're at it final of the soundtrack in stereo (it's mono in demo due to performance reasons) and slight fixes)

I did run across this last night - Droject - simple demo but not bad, made in 1995 and not released until 2009.
