I have a hard time understanding why in the past couple of years they aren't showing up as much on ebay anymore and finding their clone variants on ebay are close to impossible for me.

Maybe because people like you hoard them up? =D
phoenix, what is "Black Glass 2"?

What will you dish out for a GusMAX, extended to 1MB, boxed, disks with it, all complete?

A GUS Max won't fit my system, the card is too long.

I like it. It's long and red.

There are clones that are shorter than your standard gus.

A GUS PnP would fit, but reading about it makes me wonder how GF1 compatible it really is. Is it a rev. 3.0?

The GUS Extreme fits, had one, but I had to disable half the stuff it offered because of an on-board Sound Blaster 16 clone and limited IRQ resources. And I knew a guy with a retro rig where it would really shine, so I sold it to him. The Primax clones are a bit too long also if I'm not mistaken, 220mm is the max.

Currently running a Gravis Ultrasound ACE, which is a perfect fit, however my card had a tough life before I acquired it, so looking for a minty one.

I've found my old GUS Ultrasound GF1 - 1MB onboard. I thought I'd sold it or given it away, but it was sitting in my old dead P100 chassis.

No idea if it still works and I haven't had an ISA slot in years.

Is it still available?
Now I am older... have money. Still looking for a boxed GUS Classic or boxed GUS MAX. And for the record, all the GUS cards I have gotten from all you great people on pouet... they are still used every week. I have 5 towers surrounding me of varying pentium speeds and I am fortunate to know that they were enjoyed by fellow demosceners and that I still breathe life into them :).

Considering I'm not seeing a scenario where I'd use my GUS I might consider selling it. Looking at ebay, people are asking insane amounts of money for theirs. Do people really exist that would pay 300+ eur for GUS? (then there's one offer for 2000+ eur which is probably a joke)

I sold one on eBay for £110 (or something like that) recently. I haven't had a desktop PC for about a decade so I hadn't used it for at leas that long. It worked last time I used it but I sold it as untested with no returns and there was still a good amount of interest. Crazy. I expect I would have got a a lot more if I could have sold it as tested and working and put more effort into the listing.

So.. yes.. they do seem to go for silly money and I don't know why. If you wanna make money, put it on with a high starting price or reserve and expect that you might have to re-list a couple of times before the right person sees it.

I'm going to see if I can pick up a machine with an ISA slot and chuck the GUS in. If it works I'll try to get set up to do some captures of old demos for youtube... There are so many out there that are done with DOSBox GUS emu.

Well I wouldn't pay 300 EUR, but I've considered close to that crazy price for a complete boxed one. But if someone just had the bare box I'd be interested. Just want the box to show off on the shelf. I already have plenty of working GUS cards. So if someone has the box but a bad card I'm interested.

Well I'm glad of the necropost. I was wondering recently if I sold my GUS or if it was still in storage somewhere. I guess now I know :)
