Revision 2017 - 14th to 17th April - Saarbrücken, Germany

category: parties [glöplog]
what an ossom party it was!
Best party ever. The post party depression is quite literally killing me. Let's have another Revision next week. Love to all the orgas, if I wasn't notoriously flakey I'd make myself useful. See all of you amazing people next party <3.

Also: fuckings to whoever stole my USB cable. Next time just ask and return it before the end of the party.

Did any one send someone one of the Revision post cards?

I sent them both :) A great addition to the goodie bag.

Random thought: after having this level of compo quality, and having seen some of the prizemoney, would it be plausible to have Top5 instead of Top3 in select competitions?

Didn't write anything yet, because I honestly don't have much to say. It was a pretty good and awesome party again despite some personal issues (like being way too tired all the time and some stress/anxiety over nothing). I guess my main regret there is not talking to more people, really! I do appreciate everyone that dropped by at my spot to have a little chat <3

I also kinda regret sleeping through all the late compos, and also not playing tunes for very long .__. recent developments in my life really haven't done me any favors in the stamina department... but despite feeling kinda tired all the time, I definitely want to come back next time, because I wouldn't want to miss *the* event of the year <3

Special shoutouts to everyone I somehow missed, or didn't talk to enough. Come to Outline! ^-^

The pizzas kinda sucked this year though.

The pizzas...

You mean those heated, poorly textured polygons? Yes, they barely fulfilled their purpose.

Massive props though to the Chicken Tikka Wrap folks. That stuff was awesome.

You mean the tasty but fake chicken?

better grab that falaffel!

Also I would like to thank the organizers for toning down the volume levels for the compos etc. on sunday. While it was nasty loud on friday and saturday, it was pretty much perfect on sunday. Big love.

Nope, we didn’t turn anything down, your ears were slowly dying. You’re welcome!

To be fair I don't think they ever claimed it was chicken. I could be wrong though but I think it just said "Tikka something". In any case it was damn delicious. Only got to eat one though, every other time I asked they had already ran out. Luckily the falafel one was almost as good. Excellent examples of good quality veggie food imo.

The English translation said chicken but hey, if that's fake chicken, I'm sold. (Not that chicken has a taste in the first place.)

It said chicken. But they told me explicitly that they're a vegan food stall. After I asked they told me that it's soya based. Still tasted really awesome.

Could be interesting, but it's very hard to predict that before we get the trophies manufactured... Not sure it would be interesting for a 4th and 5th place to have a goodie bag a small amount of money but no trophy to bring home, or would it?

Big up to all the organizers involved, you guys managed another perfect Revision! I'm dead inside as usual, and overwhelmed by the quality of the entries.

+1 for the vegan food stand; the pseudo-chicken actually had me fooled and it was really refreshing to have such a non-greasy option (in addition to the greasy ones, ofc :) )

Yes, vegan food stand was good (and I'm not vegan at all =).

That said, I haven't been at Easter demoparty since 2009 iirc, and what an awesome party it was! Thanks, everyone involved <3. Still recovering!

We did this at TG for the demo compo (which we wanted to inspire people to make something for) and the streaming music compo (which had a ridiculous amount of (good) entries). I think it's a nice pat on the back for people that make decent stuff, but is not able to compete with the big hitters at the absolute top.
For Revision, I'd say that both 4k, 64k and PC demo are fairly safe compos to assume that 4th and 5th place are worthy of honorable mentions :)

It depends on people's general life situation of course, but personally I'd prefer a trophy over a small amount of money if it comes down to prioritization.

Another thing we did one year was awarding Best Execution Award, Best Newcomer Award and a Hidden Gem Award. These were entries from that the compo crew felt deserved it, regardless of which compo they came from or how they placed after voting. Naturally, this means a bit more of a job for the compo crew. But it was a nice way of highlighting entries that we though had merit even though popular vote went another direction.

I like the hidden gem award. We had something similar back then at Buenzli and a Jury decided who should get it. People loved it!

I would not mind having to pay some more Euros for my ticket if that helps getting the 4th and 5th placers a trophy aswell. Just stumbled across an old picture of TP7 prizegiving, at least in tracked compo there was the 4th placed honoured aswell. I like that!
