Don't participate in the ZX Painal scene. Problem solved.

At the end of the day, it's just entertaining. I never get, why the ZX people are so nazi about anything. But I can't stop reading about it... pure addiction. But it sounds like the same problems my five years old son has:

- Max said that Daniel said Paw Patrol sucks
- Lisa likes Sesamstraße
- Vivi likes Barbie more
- My son thinks Batman is more cool (black custome, gray one is gay)
- They are all no friend anymore

I don't understand a shit. But I have to listen...

nah, fascinatingly, there is more to it, more to dive into!
as far as as I have figured it out by now, there are 3 parties:
- the zx spectrum purists
- the spectrum evo ppl (yeah, new platform, gets a bit of hatred by purists)
- the ppl who abuse spectrum evo for what that fpga-based hardware platform can actually do (gets lots of hatred by purists)
TODO: put all of this into a giant grinder of super important intrinsic human values, turn it on, wait for a few seconds, investigate your microwave for the splattery mess that just "happened".

srsly now, if I get this right: some cool hw geeks have created that zx evo platform (hurray for that, because scene spirit). some other ppl have abused it for "hey, there's an fpga, let's get more out of this!" (hurray for that too, because scene spirit). and then there is this split on pouet between "zx spectrum" (original hardware or equivalent) and "zx evo" (fpga based reinvention). now the latter appers to be a bit of a problem. you can either accept it including some restrictions, which keep it "trueskool", or you can just say "fuck it, lol, fpga platform, let's hack the fuck out of it", which apparently some people did.

Sooooo... If you find a way to re-flash the nintendo wii hw to do absurd things to it, would that be wrong? why would anybody enforce stupid rules here? if there is this "zx evo" hw, PLEASE go nuts with it. pouet already differenciates between oldskool zx spectrum and "that new one". so, bottomline, I appreciate it if people hack the shit out of an available platform just "because it exists". that's demoscene spirit imho. bend, break, hack the rulez!

What I'm not okay with is this personal level of hatred people appear to push at each other. Wtf is wrong with you guys. srsly. i don't get it.

lvd, if i get this right, you are one of the original inventors of that speccy fpga platform. cool, I'm impressed. apparently you tried to create a super-trueskool-emulation (more than an emulation, a recreation actually). do you reakky have a problem if ppl hack it and take it further? why not appreciate it and lol about it?

TS-Labs, you are the "guys and gals" who took that Evo HW platform and hacked it to be more capable. Great job, that is super cool! And I don't get why others would feel otherwise? Or am I getting this wrong?

also, what the fuck is the problem with being transparent about what hw you use. even if it is some obscure "update" on the speccy hw, people DO care, as long as you are transparent about it. same with atari/amiga/dospc: "lol, we're using a voodoo1 card, so it's accell gfx" (lol glide). we've been down that rabbit hole in the pc demo scene ;)

@jco see TS-Labs post on previous page (too lazy to quote ;). Seems to be personal issue/s alltogether. Wich wil never be cleared out regardless of any amount of subdivisions of platforms.
What i find wierd though is the claim that most of the russian demoscene isn't aware of the issue when in my experience, if not all but many of, pouets users is.
*weird
And yes, the feats of zx-evo and the utilizing of it should be what the respective partys takes pride in.
What they call shitstorming is to me compared to flamewars napalm, seriously destructive and gets everywhere.

And wich one is the pure ZX in Russia anyway?
@EvilOne - it doesn't change much as they get older - youngest (14)

  • Sabine said such and such about Bree on insta, she's a thot
  • Emily and Alex think the latest BTS MV is kewl, Sophie not so much
  • Justine and Amy both like Doug but we're all pretty sure Doug like Mark

Do "thumbdowners" suffer from a certain/special kind of Trisomie21, which only affects their thumbs?

I should give another example that the feud is not that recent: the project to add video accelerator to Spectrum clones had been published in 1995 and was discussed in late 90s (widely available NES clone boards were suggested to be wholly re-purposed for that). The future was definitely rosy:
Quote:
Those graphical effects, of which Spectrum masters are proud today, and which authorship they debate in their “DEMOS”, will look pathetic compared to those made by middle schooler on his video processor equipped computer [still Spectrum] tomorrow.

it gives us stuff like Amiga Bar

This one requires properly translated subtitles ASAP.

As it hasn't translated itself, here's a raw annotation-by-annotation conversion:

— Somewhere, Amiga bar.

— Take your girl and piss off! This is the Amiga bar!

— Aw, snap! Sweet MmcM to my ears!

— Dance, baby!!!

— Do all Spectrumists think themselves to be immortal?!

— Hey, baby, not dancing to Sergey would be a sin!!!

— Guys, we have a Spectrumist, what should we do?

— Aw yeah! Aw yeah yeah! SeGa, what you are doing to me!!!

— That's not your flabby Amiga, baby!!!

— Dudes, there's a drunk Spectrumist, he's gonna fly of the fucking handle soon, we need to do something!

— That's the heat, my sweet arpeggios!

— I beg you fellows to calm him down, before he tears this place to pieces.

— Here's how we handle Amiga fans! EVERY AMIGA PUNK // GETS A PUNCH INTO THE JUNK!

— That's it, you're fucked, or my name isn't MIHHRU!

— For COSPLAYERS! [CC 2017 included mini cosplay show.]

— For DEMOSCENE!

— FOR CLIVE!!!

— Stop! TS-Conf won't kill him!

— Screw it, we're getting outta here!
