When i remember playing Outrun on my uncle's CPC. ;)
Amazing realisation and style so far, and the menus look so good.

Is this actually good? I mean the vehicle select screen looks impressive but the game itself looks basically an Outrun/Lotus clone - surely not the first on an 8-bit platform?

Well, it looks technically pretty impressive for a 8-bit game, but I too was kind of underwhelmed on the first look.

It looks like a rather nice implementation of a very boring style of game.

They sure know how to do their marketing :)

It'll be interesting to see the actual game, what kind of platform it actually runs on, and how much of that hype was deserved :)

Compared to everything else on that platform: Yes, definitely.
But on the other hand most existing racing games on the CPC were just really bad ports of big arcade names (Outrun, Hang On, etc).

Looks pretty damn great for 8-bit game IMO, almost Lotus 2 on Amiga -level, without other cars at least. About game style, unless there's some special rpg'ish/car building elements, i don't think i could be bothered (unlike early 90's) more than 5 minutes anymore no matter the performance.

If you run youtube at 0.25x speed, it looks like how the best CPC racing games of the past (Wec Le Mans, Chase HQ) would perform. I don't know if C64 or any other 8bit platform had such a smooth racer.

Compare the frame rate of Chase HQ to Vespertino, and yes it does look like a big deal!

I can understand that this style of racer might not appeal to all, but as someone who loved games like Outrun, Chase HQ and Power Drift, I'm really excited to see what they come up with.

Chase HQ II on the C64 ran oneframe though.

Hey Gargaj, if you think you know what makes a good racing game then go make your own!

...Oh, you did. Okay then.

Holy reincarnation batman!

I still love oldschool racers like Lotus on Amiga and it looks like my trusty CPC 6128, lurking the living room, is hitting much more uptime when Vespertino gets reality!

I checked a video of it, that's smooth but few jumpy instances of road curves. I do remember 1-2 C64 racing that had good speed, however the way they all rendered the road looked clunky, like they are flipping few frames. Vespertino looks both smooth and with very good road rendering both with curves and hills. Anyway, it's an early preview clip now, it remains to see if also the gameplay will be good.

Thanks for the feedback! We will try to make a game that, above all, is fun!
