Sent all cards just now, hope they'll still arrive in time! Godspeed Mr Postman!

More cards arrived in the meantime, just fished a "card" from Spiny out of the letterbox - dude, you're crazy!! Thanks so, so, so, so much, I'm grinning from ear to ear - this really helped to make a shitty day bearable again <3
Also I'll frame it, and it'll find a nice place on the wall :)

Pestis "card" also arrived, and I was close to do something similar - however I'm happy that I didn't, and see someone else make it even better than I could have. It's awesome, and I played with it all morning - it's still on my desk!

Once again thanks to Starchaser for the idea and making it happen, even though this isn't even over yet - I'm very sure that I'll take part next year already.

Big, big, big thanks to all of you!

Thank you all for the lovely greetings, got already awesome cards from @DaddyFreddy,
@wertstahl and @Starchaser <3 <3 <3 They were the best thing ever and really put me in Christmas mood; I don't think I would've gotten any cards this Christmas without you All! So special kudos to @Starchaser for organizing this!

@mog: nice to hear you liked it; the "platform" has some serious limitations ;)

Thanks pestis :)

I've gotten a few cards, which I've mostly posted to Twitter.

Nosferatu
Daddy Freddy
Bombe
So far I've gotten great innovative cards from Florist, Blossom & Superogue and Starchaser. Thanks for all your efforts! Can't wait for the next ones to arrive.
@mog Thanks. :) Maybe at some point we'll want to see photos of those for those who didn't get one.
@starchaser: I'll make photos and share them :)

all those nice cards i got are now on display in my shelf. thank you guys so much!!!
it really brought back that sweet sweet feeling of back in the dayze when those sendings with tagged disks arrived.
@starchaser: i had a suspicion that this would be a great thing, but the fine emotional details were unexpected! thank you!!
maybe we could make some kind of "comment and pass-on" sending? like a chain letter that after passing x recipients returns to its origin? would love to contribute.

Very nice selfmade and christmassy Starchaser card arrived today, with some fun stickers dropping out. And a round stamp on the envelope!

Also got a cool demosceney Pestis card last week, with a fun interactive starburst animation.

Good times!

I was (too) late to the party, but this was a very nice idea. Will join in next year (or next 'card-event')

Oh, sorry to read that. :( If there's something I could have better for next year to get the word around, let me know.

I posted here, the Demoscene Facebook group, a private demogroup's Slack, and the Demozoo Slack got a preview. I didn't post to Twitter (for various reasons).
Got all my cards and yesterday finally managed to send my cards as well (hopefully they will still arrive around christmas).
Thank you very much Starchaser for organizing this!
And thanks to kwantdum and especially spiny and xxx for the for the lovely and very personal cards! <3

Thanks to Daddy Freddy, XXX/HJB, OhLi and phreed/HMF for their cards and letters! Very much appreciated. Very cool ideas and I'm proud to have them up on display for my family :) It was nice to participate (first time for me), I sent out five + three bonus and got four very nice ones in return. Thanks to Starchaser for organising it.

Thanks everyone. :)

I got a postcard today from WertStahl and Genesis*Project.

There wasn't any reason not to, in my opinion, but I'm rather glad I left this open to postcards because I'm getting pretty cool stuff from everyone. :)
*greetinx time* got very nice cards from these guys :
random order:
🎄 Tezar 🎄 xxx 🎄 Mystra 🎄cranksy 🎄 t3trinetet 🎄 Blossom & Superogue (still need to type that up) 🎄 Starchaser 🎄 Pestis (wow demo! ;-)
thank you all so much, guys. So many different ideas! Next time' i'll really gear up on the stamp thing (didn't even really think about that) and the form factor (forgot the base coating thats why some surface damage may have occurred. wear and tear!)
Yes, always me not getting the particulars/specs/rules until third read. I had a quick initial idea after reading about the exchange and .. yah... always leave headroom for improvement, right? 😉
@starchaser - i quit all social media in 2015, so thats why there is not twitter acc of mine. funny there seems to be a thumbprint on it!
Up next: will make a nice box to collect all of these in - and maybe future sendings!

very xmas,

Stamp thing? If you mean the postage stamps, people can use whatever they like even the [2D] barcode only ones. :) I just think people like seeing ones they haven't seen before or are really neat looking. Especially when they're not the standard/expected shape.

(I actually have some custom printed cost-just-a-bit-too-much-to-be-practical valid postage stamps with the same design as my cube-and-angled-bar stickers but I forgot to use them. Maybe next year. They'll let you get almost anything you want. There are some restrictions.)

As to the rules, this exchange officially has some, but they're all the ones people would hopefully abide by anyway: be nice and make sure you send something to your recipients. :) I'm happy letting people do their thing and the results area always great.

I'd have made my lasered cards anyway since I've been doing that for three or more years now. It's overkill, but people rather like them so when I suggested doing something different for this year I got complaints!

Your postcard seemed to arrived just fine, but I realized I should release measurements next year to indicate what to leave blank. That way if people do full print envelopes or postcards (like you did) they can avoid the USPS automatic barcode overprinting part of their artwork. (It's in a consistent location.)

I also happened to get a card from mog today.
Oh, as to the smudging you mentioned... I figured the automatic sorting machines did that, but I could be wrong. I've noticed similarish bits on other things before, iirc. You could try as you said, the "base coating" or whatever, but it's probably not 100% avoidable. I enjoyed the card anyway though.
3 cards sent, hope they arrive(d) well since all went abroad. Got 3 cards fro Platon42, Ohli and XXX, amazing how unique and different each turns out.
The tunnel effect initially suffered from some postprocessing artifacts, but that was easily fixable that with some multithreading :D
Thanks everyone!
