Now, why the heck do my english suck?

category: general [glöplog]

Strange. A friend of mine had read my articles and said "Wow! You should go for Proficiency!", most people here say that they (my english) suck, no matter if they don't seem to be much diferrent than their own. Except if I can't see something. Other than that, I use to write a lot of texts, much bigger than regular experssions of two lines as other people, and sometimes I intentionally use wrong words invented by me. But there are moments where I think I have written some fine long texts without any mistakes I am aware of, and then I still hear that my english suck ;P. Or there are times when a scener tells me "Have you written that by yourself? How is it possible?! I thought that your english still sucked but that's perfect..", while I can't understand what is so much diferrent in this text than my previous ones. Of course, sometimes I discover mistakes after writting my texts, but not the syntax ones (They say that I roughly translate from greek, producing a stupid syntax (sounding like lazo-english or kitsch)). I can't understand it. Of course, you will find sucky english in this text too, I know, I know..

So, at least tell me and then we will discuss it. And we will try to find better sentences for building my thoughts, cause sometimes they say that a syntax of my sentece sucks but I really can't understand what's wrong with it and if it's possible to find an alternative one that won't sound so annoying to you. Damn!

it's spelled "... does my english suck?"

Yep, I was afraid of the title. Is it do or does? Are "my english" considered to be plurar or singular? I was thinking of the greek expression where my english is "ta agglika mou" so it's plurar. I thought you use do on plurar, tell me about this, but I want more. There are cases where I really can't find something wrong..

And why me? There are Polish, French, Japanische english texts which are trully insane! The diferrence is that I am writting fast, moving towards complex sentences, and I am an insane writer, so I understand my english seem trully strange and I have some mistakes too, but then again? Why esp. me??? Other people don't write much more noticably diferrent english than mine, I think..

go for proficiency, then. you may get a life at last. and by the way - you were the one who first pointed out somebody's bad english, don't get too upset if it's your turn now. and yes, my english is terrible, indeed - only that i don't spam-cry all over pouet bbs.

its not really that bad at all. maybe sometimes just slightly hard to follow because of the, as you said, "stupid syntax" and the fact that you write quite very too long sentences most of the time. also its "sucks" not "suck" ;-)

There are people who write waayy worse english than you do.

>you were the one who first pointed out somebody's bad english

Where was this? I don't remember :/

p.s. So,. is "my english" a plurar or singular?
Is it "does my english sucks?" or "do my english suck?" or "does my english suck?" or "do my english sucks?"???

'does my english suck' since it's the 'english language' which is singular.

and it's 'plural' not 'plurar' ;)

your english is singular -opposite to "plural"-. those englishmen you may have under your bed are plural. and since you don't have the slighlest idea whether it's "does my english suck" or some other thing, we should say that "your english does suck", and that you "definitely should not go for proficieny". what about trying to learn some grammar instead of throwing up whatever comes to your mind?

try typing english without certain substances in your body, that apparently manage to affect you more than any other. (ie. the cannabis tea? :P)
the whole concept behind pouet needs to be redone .. how about pouet serving as bloghost? =)

Yes. You should all learn perfect English, because we refuse to learn your stupid languages.
