Robot runner on planet with movie from Bleam / Lionhead.

zoom: aaad damn you know why not continue it on i see truspace 7 is out with VRay plug-in which looks very real!! is pixel shader a hardware equivalent to this or is VRay just software???

optimus: not sure saw it on Dscene.tv i know its by lameFX or it said lameFX at the beginning of the demo

Trying to decipher that...
If you're asking whether VRay requires pixel shaders to work then my answer is no.

no, he wants to know if vray can be done in a pixel shader.

elastic: yes, you can do anything in a pixelshader easily as long as you have looping/branching
thanks chaps
its just i was a bit annoyed that truspace are selling the VRay plug-in for £200!! when perhaps pixelshader hardware on the card could do it...

i hate it when companies charge extra for plug-ins when its so tacky having plug-ins they dont need it...it should be built in...

i'm also annoyed that i never got to get a copy of the beta version....of True-space 7...
it looks amazing quite frackly...and its a tease!!!
i would have got a crack when i was younger but now sometimes i do comercial stuff so i cant risk it
i just hate it when they bring out plugins just purely to make more money...its so tacky!!!

thanks for the tip mtp

the wild-demo is gust 2 by junk - the effect is made using the grebble-script for 3dsmax, and a low-res polygonhead.

that "oslo gay festival"-video is actually made by some ex-sceners now working at an animation-company. :)

elastic: VRay and pixel shaders can't be compared with one another. The former is a software render engine, while the latter is a small piece of code which performs operations on a per pixel basis on the graphic card's gpu.

3D applications like 3D Studio Max, Rhino and Truespace have VRay connector plugins, being this software render used in almost all fields but real time (except for texture baking and such), mostly architectural visualization (due to its fast GI calculations and the tight project schedules of this market). On the other hand, pixel shaders' practical use is within the real time field. Albeit you can obtain some really nice results using them, there are things you can't do or fake that easily.

Thus, yes, if your 3D application's built-in renderer lacks some features that Vray doesn't, it may be needed. VRay is also developed by a different company than the one who makes Truespace btw.

It doesn't matter, as long as it gloooows.
Glow is by far the best effect in the history of mankind. No matter what it is, it looks super-cool if it glows.
