This could gain 1 more row by removing the scrolltext, but that was not the point. There are 8x1 and 0 bitplane copperchunkys with twice the total pixels.
I only mentioned the number of chunky pixels of the ST-style c2p becuase it was made to beat Photons copper method in the first place (the source is even called photon.s). It's also 4x4 on screen. In the end we didn't make a fuzz of it in the demo, and thank god for that as Blueberry did the other much better prank at the same party :)
Those stories about what motivates us to do things are both fun and interesting. Thank you for sharing!
Still, I think Photon's still had a point for being 4096 colors while Clubisque's is 16 colors if I'm not mistaken. The Inside the Machine one being HAM I think it could use 4096 colors too although I don't know if it would fit in the definition of real 4x4 as it produces that blurriness typical of HAM, which on the other hand looks great.
A potential advantage of copperchunky is that you can better control the shape of the chunky pixels and use mesh. For example, Batman Rises's kaleidoscope uses a 1x1 mesh between horizontal pixels, giving the feeling of having twice as many chunky pixels horizontally for free.
Also, if we reduce the chunky pixel height to 3 or 2 pixels, I think copperchunky would be faster than HAM7, since what drags down the speed of copperchunky is having to repeat a part of the copper moves for each scanline and with chunky pixels of 3 or 2 pixels in heigh there would be less speed loss for that reason.
I also think there are particular cases of rotozoom where copperchunky is the best choice, as, for example, in the kaleidoscope in Batman Rises which I have already mentioned, where the horizontal mirror effect comes for free.
In short, I think there are still spaces for every technique, which shows the awesomeness of the Amiga hardware. - isokadded on the 2025-01-12 12:15:13

- Thank you for including Joker Snaks on Blueberries.
Btw, the version included in the pack is the one that had a bug on AGA. The fixed version can be downloaded from pouet currently. - rulezadded on the 2025-01-02 20:22:07

Rhino/BG you are a serious scener you have made and are making really great productions, So I think that everything you make are serious genuine work. So I got confused that you made a production that have a picture in it that no scener have made?.
But I love the code and the music , But when I saw that image I had to take the red pill and zoom out for a second and take a image search for the truth.
Well I don't want you to stop making intros and demos, but for the scene sake make it genuine, I think its best for fair competition in the demoscene, especially now days when deep fake AI is in every corner.
Forgive me for taking the red pill and keep up the good work!
And for those of you who don't understand what I am talking about when mentioning the red pill look here:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_pill_and_blue_pill
Don't worry, we only gave importance to technical issues in this prod but I understand your point. Next time I'll kick Mac's ass to make a genuine gfx. Thanks.
What left me concerned was knowing that IA usage checkers can make such clear failures as the one mentioned by bifat. Imagine the potential damage that 100% genuine and very elaborate artwork could be falsely accused of IA and not having useful tools to check it. - isokadded on the 2024-12-28 02:19:19

About the Joker gfx, as far as I know, the author is Qreative, as credited in the scrolltext and on that page you mention. Ok, Qreative is not from our group, that graphic was not made for this humble prod and I don't know if he used AI. If so, it was not our intention to pass off as real a AI gfx and no one here attempted to claim authorship of another's work. Btw, wasn't it common in cracktros to use cracked game resources after all? Why so serious? :) - isokadded on the 2024-12-27 23:55:02

Heh, it's ok :-) I see the challenge in this, but I don't get the insistence on actual 4x4 chunks. With logical 4x4 you can fill the entire screen plus overscan, still have plenty of rastertime left, and it even looks better. :-)
Invented by Britelite (I guess) with some clever masking applied. I copied Britelite's scheme at first, but later found that the mask does not even improve the visual appearance, and can be terrible on some displays...
The insistence on real 4x4 copperchunky is because it forces you to face the limit of moves that the copper is capable of per scanline. This makes it a more interesting challenge than simply beating the total number of chunky pixels with no restrictions on pixel size.
Photon stated that he had reached the maximum here:
https://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=66955
Then Blueberry beat the number of columns at the cost of losing AGA compatibility and quite a bit of bandwidth here:
https://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=93409
You can take a look at the comments of these productions to better understand the context. There are interesting pearls, like this one from Photon:
"I have a fetish for the fierce competition of the good old days - that guy brags about a great effect, along comes someone who beats him and calls him names and he's suddenly God Almighty etc, I'm very fond of that kind of thing. :)".
Will we see Photon live up to what he says?
In my opinion, the challenge should be to beat the number of columns while maintaining a total number of chunky pixels close to the original (“maximized”) from Photon, otherwise, someone could think of making it with more columns but only 1 row. :) - isokadded on the 2024-12-25 21:17:53

Great!
If I count right that's 3630 chunky pixels, almost up to the ST-style movep c2p with 3744 pixels in the Clubisque demo :)
