- 64k Windows Panic Room by Fairlight [web]
- Crazy good stuff. Nice design (with flow that goes all the way through for a change.. even if the scenes aren't really all that related, the transitions or effects that link them together pull it all together perfectly), and top notch quality throughout. Good tune too. Well up near the top of my all-time favourite intros over all, and firmly at the top of the 'most impressive' list.
Plus a few things not really related to the intro but make me happy anyway: PC 64k is back, and the flt intro tools are no longer gathering dust. \o/
Smash: couple of glitches here too, probably related to drivers being out of date, but JSYK: I get horrible tearing, despite vsync being ticked (and I mean horrible, like the worst tearing I've ever seen!) Also, the water in the first scene is lacking any specular/lighting, making it look a bit.. invisible. I saw somebody else saying it lacked refraction, maybe we should get together for a complete effect? :) Oh, i'm on a radeon 2600. I'll update drivers when I get some time to boot into windows again and see if it works better. - rulezadded on the 2008-08-04 12:47:26
- 4k Windows Deep Science by Fairlight [web]
- Awesome 4k. Way better than nucleotide for me, maybe it's knowing how the other one is done but not how this one is done (could actually be a similar technique I think.. care to share some hints smash? :)
Anyway, both looked good and had good audio, but I think this has better effects + overall theme, so it's the winner for me. Not seen the no. 2 yet mind :D - rulezadded on the 2008-08-03 02:27:24

- guardian: most likely just spheres post processed to look like metaballs. I've been doing similar stuff lately, but with 'metacubes' (it's not really any different). I'd stuggle to do it in 4k though, and no way with sound, so big thumb up :)

- Righty, after watching it properly: I'm not so keen on the music. The ant-head looked somehow out of place, something more on the flea scale would have worked better perhaps (but I guess finding one might be hard!). I didn't like the 'show the same thing twice from different angles' thing - it feels like one of those cheap 80s action films where they can't afford many stunts, so they show the ones they have 3 times :D
Apart from those things, great stuff. I really like the distortion effect - it's pure hollywood "unrealistic but looks good" stuff, but that works well here. Well designed scenes too on the whole. - isokadded on the 2008-07-29 13:52:44

- hmm.. a 64k that requires a framework installing? I guess it could work with 'sdl' as the platform, or if there's a linux port.
No sdl installed here (and after past experience of installing it, no will to do so ;) but I'll wait for a 'final'/native version, as I normally like sole's stuff. - isokadded on the 2008-07-29 11:46:39

- Great, but I'm not sure how much I like it as a demo. I need to see it realtime I think :)
