The 3D and post are a bit unrefined. Audio kicks. - rulezadded on the 2018-04-07 23:19:06
- demo Amiga OCS/ECS Invertebrates by AttentionWhore
- Has actually antialiased text unlike the Nah-Kolor demo. And also better in every other regard as well.

- Path AND sphere tracing! Maybe not the best geometry to demonstrate this, but technically admirable. Nice Clinkster sounds too.

- Gargaj, TropicalTrevor: I measured before the party that it takes about 90 seconds to render the music (Oidos) on an i7-7700K. On my aging Intel E8500 it's about 3 minutes. I'd say those are about the range to except most current CPUs to fall between. Efforts were made to try to make Oidos run in its own thread but even letting the synth catch ahead a little bit (like up to 30 seconds, or even more) and then calling Oidos to start playing the buffer wouldn't work; the result was always just silence if you wouldn't let the entire precalc finish. Would be interested in knowing myself why this is tbh.
Thanks everyone for the comments of course <3. This was really just a test of a new path tracer implementation. Hope you get to see something more grand at some upcoming parties! - isokadded on the 2018-04-07 00:18:40
- 64k Windows When Silence Dims The Stars Above by Conspiracy [web]
- This was the first 64k intro—or one of the very few at least—where I was just immersed in the spectacle disregarding all technical aspects and implementation details. That's one of the highest compliments I can think of giving an intro. I was not cheering for the amount of generated texture or their detail. I was not cheering for the rendering pipeline. I was not cheering for the quality of the audio synthesis. I cheered for the non-linear presentation. I cheered for the spectacle. I cheered because I felt something.
I don't think we're quite at perfection yet, but your efforts are nothing short of formidable. Thank you for the inspiration.
As far as the state of the scene in general goes, a couple thoughts... This will be hard to top, for the reasons aegis mentioned. Going much beyond this especially as far as surprise goes starts to be very deep into the area of unreasonable expectations. Doing "this intro" over and over is difficult but not unthinkable. A proper reinvention of our approaches to doing something majestic and awe-inspiring might be in order, and that's what the real difficult task is. I think we're narrowing in on the stylistic cul-de-sac that's been looming over the scene for a while now, but I'm optimistic. I have faith in you guys, as I do in many others in the scene. - rulezadded on the 2018-04-06 16:10:02
