- demo Windows virta by Brainstorm [web] & Ümlaüt Design [web] & Traction [web]
- The two weeks through the wringer did me and the demo a world of good. I've always been lazy about doing polishing properly, but after that experience I've tried to do it properly (or at least felt bad about the lack of polish :))

- demo Windows Katharsis by Traction [web] & Grey Park [web]
- Wanted to do something different but couldn't really break out of my form of glowing line stuff which I regret. I still like the end result: the pictures were taken in Tapiola between 2003 and 2004. I got a bunch of Grey Park tracks from Nosfe and chose this one. Not among my best works for sure, but it was fun to make.

- demo Windows B-sides and Rarities by Traction [web] & Jumalauta [web]
- If someone has this demo, I would like a copy (feel free to e-mail me the link). I lost mine in a HD crash.

- demo Windows Vox Dei by Traction [web]
- cce: the music is randomized from various ilkae songs. I enjoyed making this and I think it's stood time quite well. It didn't work on the compo machine at Icons for some reason (blending modes were all fucked up) and I had the unique pleasure of disqualifying my own demo.

- demo Windows Devious by Traction [web]
- I think this was last bits of Traction stuff Vulture did before starting his career in professional bodybuilding (no joke).

- demo Windows Fairytale by Traction [web] & Brainstorm [web]
- One of the best ones from us, definitely. When we were making this, I had no idea who that "romeo knight" guy was and why everyone was so awed by working with him... when the demo ended and people were cheering, that's when I understood.
This was a long project. It was supposed to be originally something like a neo-paganistic occult Spring Equinox tribute (hence all the spirals) to the ASD style, but the concept was abandoned quite quickly. IIRC, a scene with a pentagram existed at some point. Rale was instrumental here, he did pretty much all the stuff with shaders and whatnot. I made glowing lines and prettified things :)
The scene with the blue spiral and the first heavy bit in the music was coded at the partyplace. When we arrived in Germany, there was just 30 seconds of black there. It felt pretty dismal, then me and rale had a few beers and quickly made that.
One of our most enduring things, definitely. Was really happy to come 4th in that kind of a competition. One of my demoscene career highlights, definitely. - isokadded on the 2015-11-19 17:07:42
- demo Windows Fascination by Traction [web] & Brainstorm [web]
- Neither do I. It's clumsy, we were still learning at that time. The landscape in the beginning is great though, but otherwise it's ribbons galore. I do like the fake rain in one scene, but that's pretty much it.

- demo Windows virta by Brainstorm [web] & Ümlaüt Design [web] & Traction [web]
- Maybe my best demo. I spent ages, ages, ages tweaking and tuning all the little things in it. I got the track and didn't show it to Gargaj (who's a perfectionist) until very late in the process, fearing his reaction, and I remember how palpable my relief was when he loved it.
This is, despite it being abstract, also one of my most personal demos in a way. A relationship of almost six years was coming to an end while writing this and in the end it did come to that. When we visited Evoke together in 2011 we weren't a couple anymore and I think that some of that bittersweet sentiment is visible in this demo. I coded this mostly at work outside office hours, because I didn't have a proper PC at home at that time. I even did it during my summer holiday, ie. sneaked in in the evening after people had left and disappearing before dawn.
Some individual tidbits:
The demo was almost called Distance, but then I decided to go with a Finnish name. Virta means flow or stream, and I think that's very appropriate for the mood.,
The logo part was one of the few moments when I gave creative control away to Prowler, because he was adamant about it. I'm glad I did, it looks magnificent and the logo itself is stunning.
The part with the vertical lines after the logo was inspired by title graphics in a documentary by Joy Division that I saw at a festival. You can see it here if you're interested: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b1qQsHGHi8w. It's a great as a documentary as well.
The part with the circles is based on a poster I saw in Budapest while attending Function 2010. It's very static and I tried giving it more motion, but nothing worked.
The particles in a vector field is one of my favorite effects of what I've done and it was and inspired by Peon's demo Movement. I guess almost all of Virta has that kind of vibe to it. Go check it out, it's great.
The falling particles thing came from a dream. I love how the glow filter bugs around 3:30 and it seems like there's light falling.
The last scene was totally an accident and made in a day. The shape looks great though.
Now, watching this, I wonder if I should get back to coding demos. If only there was time... - isokadded on the 2015-11-19 16:59:54
- demo Windows Fascination 2 - Into the Neon Rain by Traction [web] & Brainstorm [web]
- The rain puddle and the cube were the first scenes to be done and then it just took off from there. I think there's some nice audacity here, to just make random stuff and publish it. I agree that it could have more to it than just neon & glow, but then again it's an Eighties synth disco demo thing, and Eighties synth disco wasn't exactly the pinnacle of concepts :D
Also, there were plans and a soundtrack for a third part but it never materialized. - isokadded on the 2015-11-19 16:48:44
- demo Windows Challenger Deep by Traction [web] & Brainstorm [web]
- Hey, we got successful once with this concept (Fairytale) so let's do it again! The music is great (I especially love the acoustic guitar solo in the middle and the shredding through shitloads of effects in the end). This one was a painful to make with lots of arguments etc, but watching it now years later hurts less than it perhaps could.
Out of all the effects I've ever done, the recycled Fairytale line snake is maybe the best single one. - isokadded on the 2015-11-19 16:46:47
