  In fact I did that shit back in 2000 or so, perhaps the technique is too ugly for people to adapt it, who knows :) And for more worthless knowing; it's one basic offsetmap effect, two alpha layers added and one half-transparent background layer, and of course at 50 fps.

• CiH: It's lowres with a checker pattern for the update, eg every second pixel on every second screenbuffer to get some cheapass transparency effect to the background picture. I figure this look really horrible on an emulator without real 50Hz screen.
  
  ssb: that seems strange, it's the same base code as we've had in the 20 year mega demo for example, do you have the same trouble there?
  
  Anyway the intro is really a quickie and not meant to be a total fullscreen by defjam beater :)

• Cool with a deltafiller, I guessed the sizes were limited due to hicolour fill-limit, but apparently not so then.
  
  I don't think it's lame, but ripped music really is a minus. I like the RGB-spline to remove ad fade in the picture as well.
