• The previous issue was probably the best ever, so it came as no surprise that #20 felt rather shallow in comparison.
  
  In retrospect, it would have also been the optimal moment for adok to let go and stop releasing the mag. To end something on top of its glory is often better than just keeping up the tradition for the sake of it.

• diskmag Windows Hugi #21 - The Devil Family by Hugi [web]
• The turning point. Up to its 20th emission, hugi was a fine mag (but only if we ignore the first 10 ones for a while ;)). Then, the downward spiral started to grow.
  
  A horrid title picture made by some nextempire guy. The worst skins so far. Lack of articles. Fading atmosphere. The vicious circle (fewer good contributions -> fewer readers -> fewer support) started to take effect. Still, a solid edition for the most part, but the zenith had been passed already.

• diskmag BeOS Windows Hugi #18 - The Eminent by Hugi [web]
• The first issue based on the new mag engine by Chris Dragan and also the first without the German language part iirc.
  
  This one sports probably the best mag design hugi ever had, a shitload of worthy articles and a couple of nice tunes. I remember a preview edition being released to show the new engine. It came with only a couple of articles and different (and very good) music.

• When I rediscovered the mag formerly known as 'hugendugelexpress' in 1999, I was really surprised. The german language school kiddy mag became a heavily loaded international scene mag. A must-have issue back in the days.

• Let's give some of the older hugi issues the credit they deserve, instead of just complaining how bad the newer ones are.
  
  Admittedly, it's probably somewhat pointless to download this 5 years old diskmag issue today, but it's a fairly good starting point in order to find out what this mag once was.

• I think this was one of this years 4k entries that raised the bar again. In full effect, it looks like a rather nice 64k. And yes, it's messy, but that's an AND trademark you should already be familiar with by now. :)
