- demo Atari STe Extended Knobhead by Dead Hackers Society [web]
- Wow, that was fast. I wonder if work on it first started after django's
release or if there was already sth in the pipeline?
Very, very cool. Looks great! Almost as if the Joker feels more home on
Atari than on Amiga (stressing the word "almost" ;-) )
And what's that for a nice and atmospheric title pic? Gotham at night?
Looking forward to Knobhead XXL...though this sounds kinda weird and
ambigous :-) - rulezadded on the 2025-08-03 17:37:06
- demo Amiga OCS/ECS Existenz by Existenz
- Humdinger! I love the effects, the music and the graphics and the
dark, brute touch of their presentation.
It starts off to my taste...I see a rotating texture mapped cube
traversing the screen and my thumb goes up.
Also like the look and glitches of the vertical scroller. Very cool release.
Already watched it a couple of times. - rulezadded on the 2025-08-02 13:46:00

Sachy was so kind and ran a dozen of test versions on real hardware (A500 and A500+ with CRT) before the final release and it looked even more stable than in the emulator. Do you mean the (slight) flickering and tendancy of the image to "disintegrate" into single texels which is in particular observable during the rotation? This is due to the interlacing. The skull is composed of two interleaving sub-images (checkerboard pattern) that are then displayed in consecutive frames. This allows me to work with 60 independantly colored texels per scan line. And to reduce the flickering the beam is being manipulated resulting in an increase of frequency from 50Hz to 64Hz. I could have gone as high as 72Hz or so but was afraid of overtasking and maybe even damaging(?) old CRTs.
@tjahzi
That's an interesting vertical line at the right and "Crying At The Discoteque"-flashing at the bottom :-) Is that caused by the video capture?
@Smaugur
Thank you for the video.
By the way, if you run it in winUAE make sure to use one of the latest versions and to choose Full-window and Standard VSync in the display settings. - isokadded on the 2025-08-01 10:35:43

Awesome! Sure, feel free to share it. Thanks.

Naughty, naughty beamhack. It's a little, reluctant troublemaker. - isokadded on the 2025-07-31 14:12:40

- Harmonic and mesmerizing release. I was stuck to the screen right
from the 1st second till the end. I am not such much of an expert but
the code behind the effects seems to be pretty fast. The ambient and
rather calm music is enjoyable, too. And thanks for the greetings. - rulezadded on the 2025-07-27 18:14:50

- Not too shabby for such a limited machine ;-)
Oh-oh, the tone is getting rougher in the rotozoomer business :-( - rulezadded on the 2025-07-27 17:57:20

Has anyone noticed what the joker is holding in his hands? Haha.
Of course...made me titter...screenshot alone is worth a thumb!
Noticed - and maybe I am wrong - that the image/texels become a
bit fringy during the zooming. That's not meant as negative
criticism, just an observation that made me currious (maybe a side
effect of the underlying tickery?).
Music by Estrayk is excellent as usual!
As for the AI-aid with the image: Well, in this case I would say: "The
end justifies the means".
Thanks a lot for the upcheering release and the delicious
continuation of the snack series :-) - rulezadded on the 2025-07-25 13:28:34
