the main "display" consists of just 8 1D columns which makes it very hard to come up with interesting fx besides the standard frequency bars.
I agree - I experimented with a bunch of manually coded "animations" but didn't manage to make any of them look interesting or pleasing to the eye (besides the wave pattern).
You missed a whole class of "effects" out:
Putting Lego men on a fader and trying to launch them across the room
Juggling objects (like small balls) from one side to the other
Breaking small sticks between three faders
etc..
No.. I never did any of these myself.. honestly.. don't listen to those liars that say I did... - isokadded on the 2017-08-10 12:21:56
- demo Windows fuzzy MUTATIONs by Einklang.net [web]
- Found this to be a bit mixed. The music was great but the scenes were a bit hit and miss for me. The space invaders scene especially seemed totally out of place.. but then it sort of set us up nicely for the shark/bait-ball scene. The part in the tunnels was awesome though.

- Great music. Great visuals. Great length. Clearly not to everyone's tastes.

- demo MS-Dos Windows My Summer Demo by Byterapers [web]
- This was fun. Really nicely done. The bump-mapping throughout was so cool that it made be realise just how much I miss bump-mapped DOS demos :)
And the My Summer Car reference was a nice touch :D - rulezadded on the 2017-08-06 20:04:19
- 32k MacOSX Intel F. Collier by Quadtrip
- Ahhh... this was a compofiller - I guess the 64k compo would have been cancelled without it, so thumb up for that

- demo Commodore 64 Broken by Quadtrip
- Loved the whole concept of this. The individual scenes were really good. The awesome broken-beat music was the icing on the cake. I love an old-school demo that isn't desperately screaming "hey look at all the awesome technical things I'm doing!" and everything else in the compo seemed to be doing that. This demo really stood out because of that and was the best in the compo by far.

- 1k JavaScript VOLTRA by Ribbon [web]
- This is sort of a perfect 1k for me - one thing done really well. Lots and lots of polish in such a small space. If you were expecting more then I think you've forgotten what 1k is.
