- Okey software demo with a good particle engine. The musician may use less reverb next time. Somehow the last scene reminds me of the ending of Wonder by Sunflower (same idea).

- "chess is actually one of the games that is very easy for computers to play".
Well, for computers sure, but for human players against computers... not really, at least not for me. ;) - isokadded on the 2002-03-11 18:29:01
- 16k game MS-Dos Chess32k by ByTeGeiZ
- Well,
It's a pretty wicked idea to put one of the most descent and complicated strategy games EVER in only 8.44 kb, including ascii art, a compact how-to-play help, a chanced dos font to display the figures and different options.
On the other hand, the computer oponent plays really weak, most moves seem to be random and some of the rules seem not to be implemented (it doesn't matter if the king is in check or not etc.)
Still, very funny. :)

- Any chance to get this to work without a gus? Doesn't work with Gusemu it seems... :(

- I like the simple-geometry- with-some-stylish-colours design. Music is pretty good.

- demo Windows Great HiRMU SisTERS by Hirmu
- Haarr, This demo is both: Oldschool AND newschool. :)
If you ever owned (or still own) a commodore 64 (or at least know about the game 'great giana sisters') get this one. - rulezadded on the 2002-03-09 20:56:12

- "and I think it can fit easily in 512b."
Err, optimus, look at the file size. It's 500 bytes. :)
Pretty good effect btw., but as said before, a better palette would do wonders. - rulezadded on the 2002-03-08 12:38:19

- demo Windows Passenger 1337 by Marshals
- Oldschool in a refreshing way. Music fits, design is a little messy, but good (transitions!), some better textures/scenes here and there would have been cool.

- demo Commodore 64 Triage 5 by Smash Designs [web]
- Uh, I guess this will cause just another pointless flamewar, but I'm going to say it anyway...
I rather watch some slow moving, low-resolution NEW (new for c64 that is...) effect than the usual oldschool fx that have been overused like hell in the past 10 years of c64 history.
Do we really need raster bars anymore (or plasmas, 2d starfield). The INOVATION in smash demos is that they tried to extend the horizont of the usual c64 demo watcher. Sure, some hardcore oldschool fanatics interpreted their efforts as pc-demo-imitation, but Smash shouldn't pay too much attention to those dudes.
The only real point of criticism is that AEG recycles his routines much too often.
Thumbs up here. Next to SR64 and our darkness their best effort. - rulezadded on the 2002-03-07 10:02:13
