- This is 95% there, the remaining 5% is just a really good colour grade to introduce some life.

- Probably the technically most advanced entry from Revision, full of great ideas, and yet there's something that didn't click. It's great effort in all areas, but it just didn't gel for me.
Quote:Also, that shot where the camera moves "outside the scene" is there exactly because I wanted to reveal how it all works.
I wonder if that's part of what took me out of the experience and turned into into a bit of an imbalanced halfway house of a techdemo and a more zen-like narrative-experience. - rulezadded on the 2021-04-08 14:23:06

- I never realized that what Ephidrena needed to go to the next level was a hefty dose of Xerxes.
Just the direction, the pacing - the music keeps everything in line. - rulezadded on the 2021-04-05 13:14:56

- I really didn't like Laevitas, but this just made me unreasonably happy because it shows that you can do all the things that it did wrong sooo right: tight direction, tense, gritty, deliciously dark.

- This was excellent and all dazzling and daring up until around halfway (the corridor), at which point it got stuck up its own ass and never got out.
Such a damn shame because Alkama's track is getting a hernia trying to carry it all, but it just can't. - isokadded on the 2021-04-05 03:18:26

- This just took everything we had in the scene and within about 6 minutes took it to a level that's not even in the same school of thought that we knew so far. The scene might not recognize it for years, or ever - hell I wouldn't be too surprised if you wouldn't make top 3 - but you did.
You emotionally broke hundreds of people using a bunch of lines and about 4 chords on a piano - if this was a real party, you could've heard a pin drop it would've been so silent.
I'm trying to find comfort in knowing that nothing I'll ever make will be as good as this.
Thank you so so much. - rulezadded on the 2021-04-05 02:29:00

- demo Windows Ember Dream by Adapt [web]
- Hoo boy, this is such a weird one to formulate an opinion about. First off getting it to run is a chore, takes a minute or two to load without a loader bar so I was just about to kill it when it finally "ran", and let me tell you it's not a great experience on a 1060.
So what IS it? I don't know, it feels like this weird unholy mashup of... stuff. There's influences from Variform through Agenda to The Prodigy but all the influences taken seem to be the absolute superficial ones ("robot voice reading credits", "shouty chorus"), rather than the fundamentals (good composition, good audio production), and that just feels like it becomes a moodboard, a scrapbook of ideas before it gets turned into a real proper prod. It's a shame cos clearly a ton of work in there, but it just feels like hitting specific things was more important than having them form a cohesive whole.
The weird part is, Adapt demos are generally solid and consistent, so it feels like all these new gimmicky elements just stick out, hurting the otherwise solid style. - isokadded on the 2021-02-25 12:00:49
