It sounds cool, but I think the look (especially the colors) could be polished a bit.

Btw, the text doens't appear on my computer.. x600, WinXP SP2.

yeah preacher ... i was just about to upload an archieve with a "final" and more polished version, where btw the screenshot was taken from. basically it adds safeimport for crinkler, the text and some better fitting transitions.

download link is:

I don't see the texts either, I guess it's a missing font as usual. Intro is nice but is the music meant to sound so horrible? One particular sample is totally distorted and makes it a pain to listen to the otherwise nice tune. It somehow sounds like a clipping bug or smth.

Cool music except the lead melody. The effects were promising, but it still looked like barf visually.... piggie

even that final version is not quite what i intended to to. my plan was to use the volumetric rendering of those hypertextures on the helium atom also, but it simply turned out to be too slow. so i had to go other ways and once more ended up with pointsprites. and once more must send big fuckings to ATI for not allowing a decent maximum scale size for pointsprites (so dont be surprised if you have ATI and some things seen to look to small).

anyway, i'm sorry that this didnt work out as i planned, but i had to release it, because i wanted to hear the new synth and that song once on a big soundsystem :D

I really liked it. If only the moleculres weren't jumpying so annoyingly so that I can watch their beauty..

really like the music and the idea, but only electron and proton look good. with a bit more time it would have been a lot better.

Nice one! It's not that spectacular at all - but astrophysics/cosmology is a hobby of mine so I really enjoyed the idea and concept. And the music is soothing, too!

OK. Arial fontface I think, so it should be in a standard Windows pack.

StingRay:
... or you have a shitty soundcard :)

i used IEEE float wave format for the sound in the party version cause i saved the integer conversion and clipping that way (and so precious bytes). it seems that most soundcards (but not all) do the clipping automatically.

anyway, that was sort of an experiment and it apparently failed :) sorry for that

the final uses standard 44100Hz 16bit Integer format again and should therefore make no trouble anymore.

@gopher: final version doesn't working here, it changes screen resolution and then exit without error, party version works fine.

Especially the beginning is very promising, but for 4k the intro in total is good, and I very much ilke the solid concept. Way to go!
rulez added on the 2007-11-25 11:12:14 by deepr deepr
The beginning is great, and the music sounds pretty neat for a 4k intro. I think the electron looked the best.

Looked nice, and you guys have done well in 4k synthwise.

Is this the first intro using an early incarnation of 4klang? Or is this entirely different synth code?

The intro itself is just ok... =)

this is the second intro using the codebase that evolved to 4klang.
the first intro ever was this http://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=31083

both intros used hard coded values for the instrument and music data, as no VSTi GUI was existing back then (the VSTi came to life after Breakpoint 2008)
