I really can't stand the music in this one. It's so incoherent... so little melody... and all these annoying 'effects' over it all the time.
Horrible.
Shame, some of the best Haujobb demos have excellent soundtracks, and it fits the style well.

The rest of the demo is standard Visualice-style. Nice 'organic' objects and all... But nothing special, nothing we haven't seen before.
This one is definitely not of the same quality as Liquid... Wen?

A few cool visuals, but it all goes to waste due to the terrible soundtrack (dare not call that "music") and ugly, repetitive design.

A shame, really.

best music in a haujobb demo EVER !

yawn. good music though.
My first impression was something like: 'uh, channel nr. 5 vs. we took the green pill'. Definitely not as good as liquid wen or elements.

So. What we are dealing with : classical haujobb demonstration, ambient atmosphere, well designed. But where is ectasy?

I think this is actually better than liquid. Graphics are excellent (as usual), music kicked ass and it had nice syncs.

Music okay, synch okay, demo/effects/graphics the usual hjb output.

Hmm, usually Haujobb demos work just fine on my box but this one produces a crash both in windowed and fullscreen mode.

The AMAZING soundtrack combined with wicked syncing and nice gfx make this the most enjoyable haujobbdemo ever!
(Allthough Im getting a bit tired of the recycling of old design in some hjb-releases :)

a bit senseless and lacking of coherence between the scenes. the sync is very weird.

still, i love the music and the graphics are once again remarkable.

well it was nice yes. The music itself is cool but it does not fit the demo. the demo design looks more like a winamp visualization plug in , than demo. ~_° ?
rulez added on the 2002-12-15 20:44:01 by elend elend
Hmm... I don't know what to say about this.

I've thumbed up almost every Visualice-styled Haujobb demo, but maybe not this time. Many of the individual visual elements are quite nice, in fact even more polished than previous efforts. But the demo just doesn't seem right in some way. I can't really describe why.

I suppose in some aspect other Haujobb/Visualice demos feel like a 'trip' from point A to point B. This thing just kinda stands still in the middle of nowhere.
Nice graphs but the demo is purely haujobb : a bunch of scenes where faces, triangles and alpha faces move, with no particula effect... boring, so.

not quite as memorable as liquid-wen, but saved by a few newish ideas.. and i like the soundtrack a lot with the granulated breakbeat.. the text was intriguing enough and was presented well.. i would've liked more of the antialiased pseudo-wireframed organic 3d blobby things (??) as it added some fresh interest to an old hjb standyby..

oh, and the only recently released demo that gets a good framerate on my "obsolete" amd1.6ghz/256mb/geforce2 ;)
Lots of eyecandy graphics but I think some of the more interesting effect should have been shown longer. But then again you really are making moves to quick to see :>
rulez added on the 2002-12-16 01:44:37 by obi1 obi1
great graphics/textures and scripting, but the soundtrack doesn't do anything for me, and i think i spotted some already used 3d-objects. this is perhaps the first haujobb-demo i didn't immediately love. might grow in me though.. (oh, and fast code)
added on the 2002-12-16 03:18:07 by gloom gloom
Ok.. seemingly on some Radeon cards this demo might crash or play really wrong. You can try running it in windowed mode (might help or then not), wait for a possible final release or go watch it with your friend who has a GeForce.

Hmm... anyways I think I'll make an exception and comment on an own group prod now.

As Thom said already this is quite polished demo but every piece don't still fit together. Now after watching "We Are" for quite many times I think it's not about anything itself would be bad quality (on the contrary most of the gfx are great) but it's more about missing a connection between parts. I also personally like the soundtrack by Xhale but it doesn't perhaps fit that well in this demo.

As for the repeatitive progression, this was also ment to be a sequel to We Took The Greenpill.

On the good side, I like the synchs alot and on a right state of mind this kind of flashy and quick changes gets easily hypnotizing.
added on the 2002-12-16 10:26:17 by melw melw
nice music, but the visuals and sync are sub-par even for yahd (yet another haujobb demo) style.
added on the 2002-12-16 11:17:31 by shiva shiva
yea it does rule in fact... watching it on the big screens at the sota was interesting, too bad there were a little buzz in the background which killed a bit the supa soundtrack!!!!!

coz YEA this soundtrack is good, who care about melodies in demos? the music is interesting, really well done and the syncs on it are good.

tho i'm sure many people won't like it, criticizing the fact it's boring, repetitive blablablablabla. that's the real way to make demos maybe? don't care about the scene, make your stuffs, some will like, some won't, that's all about personal matter for sure
The jumpy animations and colorful graphics didn't work well with Xhale's usual (but nice) spooky track

I actually really liked this one because it's DIFFERENT from Haujobb's usual schtick. The sync was amazing; a weird trippy jazz song with hypnotic pulses timed to the visuals. It's a departure from the norm; yes there are floating transparent organic structures and nice 2-D art, but it's not a smooth and buttery thing, it's more of a stuttering mess that becomes entrancing. Kudos!
rulez added on the 2002-12-17 00:49:19 by Twoflower Twoflower
Typical high quality visualice artwork with typical abstract 3d models, sync'ed very nicely with a rather spooky (but very interesting) tune. However there is something missing from this demo, and I'm afraid that what's missing is a 'pulse' :-/

rulez added on the 2002-12-17 14:33:11 by neurox neurox

kb got it rite!
it is definately visualice's handwriting but then, i can second twoflower's opinion more than anything else's.

it is *VERY* different in mood than any other HJB demo, it also got quite some new things (oh well, forget the screenshot, its not representing demo that well). sync kicked some butt as well, maybe even a bit too much of it since i think this demo should've been a little more calm not flashing scenes like there's no tomorrow. muzik was good as well if you are the guy to accept more than one style.

anyway, perhaps my fav demo from visualice!

rulez added on the 2002-12-19 20:10:20 by NoahR NoahR
as this demo started i thought "okay, a visualice demo again"... the demo got better the longer i watched it. nice effects, good sync & a kickass soundtrack - defenetly a really good hjb production.

i cant understand why ppl keep saying "visualice here, visualice there". okay, due to their most famous productions, which all have "visualice-style-objects"... but dont forget about the other ppl which are involved into such productions! pay credits to them! :-)

and don´t blame hjb for doing different stuff! thats inovation! some people here dont know what they want: if haujobb does a "visualice-style" demo, they complain about it and say "blabla, the usual style" and if they´re doing something different, people start complaining about "ooh! that does not fit hjb!" so what do you want?....

well, some people here always post crap about all the good releases, which can be found here on pouet. kinda strange, that most of them NEVER visit a scene-party or never released something before. those people simply SUCK.

my 2 cents

this prod does not rule compared with other
hjb-prods like elements or liquid-wen, but's
much better than some other prods released
at sota02 and many other demos i've seen before! haujobb, you are very good...
rulez added on the 2002-12-19 23:19:21 by reaktor2k reaktor2k
this is definitely not a bad demo. i actually like the soundtrack, and the visuals. visualice's a freakin genius, no debate about that.

but i have to second the people who said that something's missing this time. there's no kick. no "wow". more like "haven't i seen those objects somewhere? they used to be silver rather than chrome".

haujobb can deliver much more than that! and i hope they'll do it again next year.

Very good another HJB demo i think it was a little underrated (a place about 3 -4 will suit for this demo better) ... a new looks to a making a hjb demo... graphic is a bit weird and "no-simple object" and music i also weird, but this thing together makes a very good feelings from this prod...still i thumbin up

Not as good as Liquid Wen, but overall nice.
rulez added on the 2002-12-21 18:50:49 by shash shash
please notice that it does not make any sense to compare this to "Liquid Wen".
Liquid Wen is pop,
while this is not,
and, such, results in a higher level of mass-disfavourment.
added on the 2002-12-21 23:20:32 by hfr hfr
i agree with hellfire. compared to liquid wen this is not a pop demo (mainly because of the sound).
still i wish this would have had some more of the green pill spirit which was somehow missing here.
moreover in the end it crashes my machine everytime so no thumb this time.

I must truly second A_Lee_N since nobody deserves visualice. I'm very glad that he is around.

i think many people were disappointed by the fact that this doesn't look or feel like "your usual haujobb demo". the scenes and choice of colors are definitely a new direction, and so is the design (gotta love the "poetry" everywhere :). besides, it feels rather polished.

cons: rather uninspired music and sync at times. still a rulez.

Agree that the music was repetitious, but it created a mood. My ear couldn't accept the out of sync beats tho. (Strange?)
