Phong shading makes it good!
My favoritest demo from Valhalla! Great 3d algos like phong shading, a 3d stonehenge with flare effects and especially that great mirrored and bump mapped crystal sphere at the screenshot!

I love very much the music from Big Jim too..

well, it's not phong shading you poor fools...
It's just plain-out-of-the-box-ordinary-vanilla environment mapping. And tha lens-flare's fake to (it doesn't get affected when occluded by other objects) but well, hey...
THUMBS UP!

don't you read the paper? everything is fake, but valhalla is still valhalla. :)

Divine music and divine env-mapped fake phong stone (not to mention the reflections).

A Classic!
Great use of 13h colors, quick routines and cute harmonious music.
This is beauty.

...hint: the soundtrack is in the file SOLSTICE.MOO (wich is a mod) and contains the greetings of Big Jim, the composer :)

not really my cup of tea, but a nice piece of code/music/design.

Old-skool soft rendering like in this demo can be much more tasteful than modern shader v 42 GFX.

@Unkown: It works for me in DOSBox 0.70. So there is no real reason thumbing it down.. :)
added on the 2007-07-20 13:57:39 by raer raer
Thumbing something down because you can't get it to work in an emulator must be the epitome of lameness.

Good code and music.

a shining moment from the old britscene. mostly a show of 3d effects (but hey, bump map with reflection was great for '95), but the music is uplifting, the transitions are good, and some 2d fakemode is thrown in for good measure. so why the hell would you thumb this down if you can't get it to work in an emulator?
rulez added on the 2007-07-20 15:11:41 by phoenix phoenix
The Farnar/Nostalgia mentioned in the .nfo file should actually be Farang/Nostalgia, but I'm gonna thumb it up anyhow :-)

Solid multipart demo and the .mod is so cool
btw works fine with Dosbox 0.7

The fakemode plasma and environment mapped objects are gorgeous. The other parts aren't of the same quality, but the excellent soundtrack helps bring up the overall quality of the demo.

a bit onedimensional contentwise but obviously good code (though i just hate the shaky cams in the beginning, prolly the precision issue)

From 1995... I don't know when exactly I saw it the first time, must've been in my teens...I was discovering demos.
I'm 29 now.
Could not know that today it would give me the chills...still.
Thank you.
I'd love to see a win2 port.
Memories.
