nice fractal and, especially, presentation.

Not too sure about the music (maybe the instruments were unsuited), but the presentation was great!

Thanks to Nystep for getting me to be part of this, 'twas interesting to say the least!

About the music, if it's different then I'm satisfied. I hate most 4k intro soundtracks, and especially the ones made with 4klang. Not that it's a bad software (it's actually very good), but somehow people manage to make the most disgusting patches with it, I wanted to make something I enjoy and I'm actually very satisfied with the result.

I'll put up a link to the soundtrack later today for anyone who enjoyed it :).

the music sounds a bit farted - same for the graphics.

Interesting visuals unfortunately ruined by a crappy "soundtrack".

could be a good prod but sadly the very lame music ruined it.
added on the 2012-05-20 16:58:29 by rez rez
lame in what sense?
added on the 2012-05-20 17:01:04 by noby noby
keops and rez, fine fine, still i can't wait to see what you guys are *able* to do in this category instead of easily blaming others work. Getting musicians is difficult, and new people even more, so i think we have to be welcoming. Good job for your first 4k noby.

Thumb Up because i don't agree NEVER with keops and the prod is good, i've seen MANY 4K, this one is a good one.

Nystep : no need for drama. As I wrote, I enjoyed your work on the visuals (so did Rez it seems). Neither of us gave it a thumb down moreover.

I found the work on the soundtrack to be really bad, but that's just my opinion.
I'm sure Noby with his Assembly music entries and his numerous straightfoward feedbacks (sometimes rude) on Pouet about demo soundtracks and other musicians knows by now that feedback works both ways.

and to go further, it even ran smooth on my old 8800 :)

awesome considering i lost 40% of the framerate while tweaking the epsilons without testing properly before the deadline :) -_-
added on the 2012-05-20 20:01:56 by nystep nystep
Keops: not to cause any sort of drama or anything but there are more mature ways to deal with issues you know, but hopefully no hard feelings, not at lest on my part :)

White screen (both ATI and NV), music only. The problem with the music is mainly this one pitch-lingering instrument that starts around one minute or so. (In general, I don't expect miracles from 4k music. But please tune your sounds/instruments and make sure frequencies are in balance and not overriding each other)
added on the 2012-05-20 20:07:57 by tomaes tomaes
tomaes: Yes I know, that part is a bit wonky but I couldn't/didn't have time to properly fix it and the people I previewed the track to didn't find a problem with if and even dug it. The timbral balance and the mix overall isn't perfect but I don't think there's a problem with it, except if you're not into that sort of style which is totally ok of course.

I like it

Noby : there is no issue, it's just my honest feedback.
I happened to notice that your comments are sometimes quite rude towards the work of other musicians. So yeah, feedback works both ways.
added on the 2012-05-20 20:28:20 by keops keops
I can be (a bit too) outspoken sometimes, in the past especially and I apologise for those moments. Thought the point of my previous reply still stands, this is pouet after all and nothing here should be taken too seriously :).

apart from the dying cat sound the music was actually quite nice :)

@noby: when you write comments like "(...) but now just get a more inspired musician and start making something more original." don't except for me or some others people to be nice with you, even if you are a newcomers.

The music has its bad moments, but I really like the visuals and especially the perspective.

Finally a nice music in this 4k compo.
Fractal structures on a spherical view.
Nice colors, nice feeling.

great intro

I'm somehow very tempted to watch this intro and see what's the blabla around the soundtrack, I'm wondering if the pouet mob is acting this way as a revenge for noby's comments.

Anybody to make a video of it?
Oh and from what I've seen on the YT live streaming, it's looking nice. And the music, from what I've heard, at work, with no headphones, trying not to wake up collegues, sounded nice, like some good old techno ambient, with bubu drums, which I happen to like.
I was hoping for some more visual+music syncs.. But good!

really creepy music. but nice visuals and flow. so thumb up because it's a 4k too!

@noby: well your music is not so much terrible, but i'm not really fan of "heavily detuned" sounds, the first part is pretty ok but i do not like when it goes "special".

visuals are nice but a bit eventless, but really, good job Nystep, let's go for a motivational thumbup after all :)
rulez added on the 2012-05-21 17:36:50 by rez rez
@rez, that's fine :) I very much understand it's not everyones taste (and at least I now know why).

Download link for the final version of the track which didn't make it to the compo version of the intro (ps. it's not so detuned).
added on the 2012-05-21 18:43:13 by noby noby
Nice, but i don't think the distortion was necessary
rulez added on the 2012-05-21 19:47:49 by jarod jarod
it's kind of detuned... it's always close to point of out of tune but never manages to go there... so I understand why some people could have found it disturbing at some point as it's been proven it's more than a matter of taste and culture when you deal with this topic.

Apart from that, I'll salute the effort of bringing some techno ambient sweetness (close to, yes I know it's awful to do that, let say, some of the Selected Ambient Works or Christ. perhaps?) to the scene. But it's a matter of taste here I suppose.

The visuals are really nice, the whole work is solid. it's a good prod and it's creative.

ps: noby, stop justifying yourself, especially not on pouet. take the good old "I know what I did" pose... (you're allowed to whine on private chats, that's what many cool dudes do :)

Most polished entry in the compo by far! Better sync and progression would make this a lot better.

kinda boring to see yet-another-fractal-tracer with 4klang sounds.

anyways, the detuned sound reminds me of this

the older i get the more i appreciate the sentiment of productions such as this. it reminded me of walking underneath La Tour Eiffel and just looking up at it's awesomeness. the music fits nicely with the visuals :)

Listened to the final version of the music. I think it's better now and I like it - we've already had a BoC comparison, so now I'll say it reminded me a little of this.
