Pretty much what I'd expect from a DOS demo in 2017 :)

Loved the Michael Jackson street scene.

Greetings = best

The greetings part was hilarious. Decent music, a bit random effects, all in all an entertaining show.

Maybe my fave from compo, very nice!

Some cool effects there, uplifting music, maybe some jaring graphics where not on the serious side (like painted sun sky in the voxel part, or jaring gfx or colors inside the blobs). I loved the color bump and especially that voxel when it turns a juhlia inside the volcano. The credits where nice idea too. The combination of floating blended polygons fly with tunnel was cool, although sometimes they don't match (it feels sometimes, when they go opposite direction, that they are two overlay effects and don't seem like those shapes are inside the same 3d space as the tunnel always).

Cool winner, I am glad there were few DOS demos in the compo worth rewatching.

Haha, had to watch it twice to realize which part was the greetings .. excellent ! Nice tune, nice effects, love the piggie metal glance meta balls .. nice tune and double thumb for DOS ! Minimum hardware specs ?

that larry part really did it! :)

Optimus: Thx mate. I was hoping a dos demo from you but no luck.. maybe next time I hope? Yes you're correct about that 3D space thing. We tried to match it very late friday evening to look like it occupies the same place (keep starting point of tritunnel effect inside the black area in the end of the grid tunnel) but ran out of time as usual, it was 5 am saturday morning when we submitted the party version entry. Same excuses, every time.

TheMechanist: Pentium 133 (no MMX nor univbe required), Midas sound card support. It can run on slower machines, but compo machine was 133 and my test rig was 133Mhz. Few parts will probably stutter if u try to run it with "poorer" hardware. There's Win32 build inside the zip though.

Making this demo with my guys was absolutely a blast. Relax Ants and Malfuctkion were kinda stressful, but this time it was actually filled with more moments of joy than sorrow, except the evernearing deadline. And ofc Roz delivered excellent tune as always.

Let's make Assembly oldskool demo compo great again!

Delivers most of what you want from a 1997 DOS demo tribute. And yeah, the Larry strut greets were a fun touch. :)

This was fun. Really nicely done. The bump-mapping throughout was so cool that it made be realise just how much I miss bump-mapped DOS demos :)

And the My Summer Car reference was a nice touch :D

So the innovation now is to combine those super-old effects in pairs of three. ;)

It reminds me something like Earth (in our times) history - we are not in the past, but we try to imagine and interpere it as if we were there (not talking about (B) dudes, who do were there). You got me.

From the "old-skool point of view", it is completely different comparing it to the demos dating between 1993-1996. This one has different style, and gfx. The music and some code are too fresh and some too good ;), the gfx is in opposite.

Not comparing it - it is something one eventually can call an "old-school"-like demo. It looks fresh, nice and entertaining.

I gonna give it a rulez, even if, imo, it balances between a weak thumbz and a really solid OK.

Moi, moi!

Not much into DOS demos but always excited to see Byterapers prods. The voxel/ocean part and transition to fractals were a real wow-effect for me, great greetings part was awesome, too.

Wasn't that impressed at the party, but it looked better already when watching it at home on a screen where the lowres pixels aren't like 1 by 1 meters :) When the greets part started I was pretty sure this would win the compo.

that's the demo I awaited for, despite of some recyced stuff, but I liked smooth bump\freedirs, a bit of raytracing(?) and yes, dat greetings :D

you need to watch the end part of iguana - heartquake or the middle part of wild light - drift then, they did a very nice take on that wow-effect 20 years ago :P

Very nice. Clean, crisp, and light hearted. I really liked the bumpmap effect with the flowers.

Keep it up guys, let's keep the oldskool compo going, and hopefully next year we'll join you. If we don't procrastinate and get side-tracked as much as this past year :)

Hianoo pojat

There's a disparity between the moods of the music and the visuals. The music is made for a cool Extension style demo, but the visuals are from something that needs jolly rockabilly music and Irwin Goodman style vocals.

The voxel transition was nice and the greetings part is great, but a lot of this demo was done better 20 years ago already.

nice track, but otherwise it's more pandering-to than true-to -- cutting corners left and right in the routines and the awful choice of textures/colors.

I'm going to do something I haven't done in a good while: thumb down, along with kimi. The DOS era was my upbringing, this doesn't do it any justice. It's pandering, Byterapers unworthy.
