really nice prod! However is it really a 40KiB? The included exe is 331KiB (and zip pack to 101KiB). I'm confused now

Hi Leonard. I included the unpacked exe in the archive just in case someone wanted it for anything. I guess I should have included the packed one as well. We Amigans tend to use Shrinkler for size critical things, it's far more powerful (and slow) than zip. You can find it here https://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=64851

Or you can just pick the exe from the included adf.

Nice

Lovely stuff!!!

Btw, the exe in the archive has debugging info... hence why Shrinkler packs it better, as it strips that out :)

Leonard's aware of Shrinkler ;)

Good gfx and design, and some interesting fx like the circles and oscilloscopes.

Love that tune! Nice and laid back mood.

My amiga mind watching this:

The vertical parallax "copperbars" are neat. What powers this effect? Is it done by drawing the scene in the top row and replicating it with the copper to draw the rest of the screen. How do you get the logos in-between the bars then? Could it be dual playfield and the text being sprites? However, it is quite colorful and dual playfield have a limited palette per plane.

Are the bars replicated sprites and the text in between them some dual playfield stuff using the prioritization mechanism to make the sprites go in between?

Is it all done with sprites and this sprite priority mechanism?

Now I need to check the docs to see whether this prioritization thing works with planes and sprites together.

The "Hipposcopes" are cool, but what kind of player allows you to retreive the currently playing sample range to visualize such scopes? It must be some extra work put into the playback routine in order to get at the currently playing sample data and its frequency etc. Or is there a cheap trick I'm not aware of where you can read this from the Amiga registers? (I have been looking for something like this before, yet I have never found it)

Love those circuit electrons too!

Rant ends!

...nerd! Fortunately I did a little writeup in case of nerds, I think it should answer all your questions. https://everydog.home.blog/2023/01/23/fat-circuits/

Nosferatu is the best at doing oscilloscopes :) I dig them. Great gfx from CK and this 70's music style... What not to like?

@Nosferatu yes I know shrinkler quite well :) I was surprised by the un(expected packing ratio difference with zip for that specific demo. Now I know, there is still huge debug symbols hunks in the exe :)

Precalcing what? The ... white circle span widths? That takes .1s :) The colored circles? Those are prerendered/cyclebuf. Both are different from replaying data. All 3 have occurred many times before.

Maybe hot debate and a misdirect. We can have fun with it ;) but it will affect nothing until we weed out data replayers. I do not limit it to this. Coders know if they coded the effect shown or not, end of story.

Haha, all this from reading comments. :D

Now: I came here to say, thanks for contributing a nice 40k with chill music, neat gfx, and roto 'scopes!
