one of the best 4ks i remember seeing lately, nice to see an actual visual concept, and it looks great too! i still hate the music though because of 4klang preset sounds :) (it's fine otherwise)
rulez added on the 2012-12-29 00:33:18 by noby noby
the concept rocks so much i just wish it would run a little smoother and had a little more blocks :)

yeah great concept

Looks damn good and interesting idea, but there's not too much of it - plus the music is pretty normal 4k stuff :/

what CG do you guys have to run this full speed ? (like on youtube video). Is it slow because its 100% shader stuff (raymarching) or because it contains tons of polygons ?
added on the 2012-12-29 12:20:02 by Tigrou Tigrou
I like this. Very well done. Pacing is a bit slow, but other than that, very nice.

i like how this one does *not* use distortion/blur for a change. looks very crisp, nice model though me too had hoped for a little more animation and perhaps a bigger model :)

Nice rendering, but it was a bit slow on the compo machine isn't it?
rulez added on the 2012-12-29 17:53:33 by rez rez
Cool. Would be great with more action though.

raymarching!

crazy (procedural) modeling exercise (glad to see something that's not twisted cubes or a terrain). cool!!!

the window material is great, as usual with las' marched refractions.

i miss shadows, and/or occlusion or color bleeding. otherwise it still looks very opengl 1.1 to me (but for the window material)
rulez added on the 2012-12-30 01:32:57 by iq iq
yep, plasticGlass-shader rocks.
too short, too slow and the preset-instruments shouldnt be used anymore.

@iq:
This is not a one man production - please see the nfo file for the proper credits. All who have worked on this intro deserve at least the same respect and attention.

In addition to that 4klang & crinkler were used.

What others said about the 4klang presets.

When I saw the screenshot, I was hoping for the LEGO pieces to blow up and assemble into different objects/vehicles .... maybe something to try for roger relocate

it looked nice on youtube, but running the actual exe on my radeon 7970 (just about the fastest card on the market) it was extremely slow and horribly aliased - wheres the super aa from the youtube video huh? :)

anyway, the transparency looked good, the reflections looked dubious, there wasnt much content to speak of, and it looked awful without any aa.

That propeller rotates way to slow to generate any lift. Also, slideshow on my machine. Nice idea though.

@smash: wow, it runs on ATi! thanks man, you just made my day! :)

Uuuuh, yeah. Smash is right; somehow the video is drastically different from the real deal. Not only does it alias like no tomorrow, but it's also dog slow. I wish I could take back my thumb :/
added on the 2013-01-02 18:40:17 by kusma kusma
Runs VERY slow, and then I get the same error as Gargaj.

Runs fine but very slow here.

Things that felt wrong to me: reflections, cheap AO, lack of subsurface scattering, hard edges. Oh, and music. :-p

Great work guys!

v3nom, more likely Lego Creator ;) 0x0 reference crash at start (Q6600, HD4870, XP). Video here (Dropbox, so feel free to move it to scene.org or whatever.)

Shifter: the props actually look like that, but with rounded tips (this is 30 years old info). And you're missing the point.

Loved this 4k, just too short. We want more, make a 64k with 16 models ;P

I actually got into LDD and rendered stuff a few years back but the exports were horribly complex so I couldn't use my builds in a DirectX demo.

For a 4k obviously you can't have the bricks 100% accurate (each presscap rounded and with Lego logo) but it would be cool to see a full-blown demo with 100% accurate brick models :)

rulez added on the 2013-01-04 19:11:16 by Photon Photon
The demo crashes for me on my old, updated Windows XP Pro. SP3 with an ATI Radeon 4870 video card (512 MB; PCIe; v9.4 driver [can't use the newer drivers due clock/time slow downs with DVI and rare random hard lock ups/crashes). http://i.imgur.com/AJxkV.gif for the screen shot/capture and error report below:
