On TV games/Coin Ops? What do you mean??? These ones have sometimes similar hardware like the one on consoles, go watch console demos.. ;)

Insert credit(s) to watch the demo? Craazy! :)

well maybe in japan, since those arcades are mostly japanese. It would seem strange they never tried to make fancy effects on those machines! (our japanese people on pouet perhaps could answer)

Um, anyway, I don't think demosceners are THAT crazy. Most of the older arcade-games run on specialized hardware (with burnt-in graphics and stuff like that), and more recent hardware (like the generic systems by Capcom and Taito and so on) are thoroughly encrypted. Even newer stuff, like Sega's Naomi boards I believe they're called, are just modified DC's.

So technically it can probably be done, but most people are not THAT masochistic.

Perhaps some unix-geek ported linux to run on the original Space Invaders chipset, though. :)

And talkin' about being masochistic, what about coding a demo on Sega Saturn :) ?

So, are you going to upload the ROMs on pouet? And how's everyone else supposed to watch it? On MAME?!?! :-))

Hmm...

The sony dog runs software, on little rom cards, right?

Sounds like an interesting prospect to me athough Optimus has a point when we points out that consoles have similar hardware. Most people run GBA demos and the like on emulators so I don't see a problem with this. I think you need more then a flash linker to test it on real hardware however (an EPROM programmer would be the trick) :)
