What is your PC composition?
What hardware have you installed recently?
What OS do you use?
(That's not hardware I know but is the bridge between hardware and software.)

Low performance here. I had an old Athlon XP 2600 (2 Ghz) since 5 years with recent ATI HD 3650 but the motherboard was burned and I changed with an older motherboard I found and now it doesn't like the 3650. I am with Athlon XP 2000 (1,6Ghz) and old Radeon 9600 Pro 256MB, 1GB Ram and that motherboard is so old it even has USB x1. Although I am going to buy a new laptop in a month because I will be in london for studies and later job and I will need a new one.

Also, 7 other pcs here: 386 with GUS, 486, pentium 1, pentium 1 laptop, pentium 3 with Voodoo 2, asus eeepc 900, some old acer pentium4 with GF5600 that malfunctioned again.

And all the other retro junk.

m0d: surround on a laptop?
but, aren't all the channels in front of you, that makes no sence...
i even thinks it makes no sence to put stereo speaker as close together as they are in e.g. a laptop.
forgot to mention I run a SSD in my desktop ... boot up time and to start apps is a thrill :D
