- This is almost an art movie! Explicitly stating that the production is "demostyle" exposes certain insecurities about its identity, and I feel that undermines its charisma. I liked the shadows and the tune was technically ok.

- This is a coherent production with fitting, melancholic music. I didn't like the repeating effects towards the end, but the atmosphere made me feel lonely and abandoned.

- Weird, good and ambitious. I liked the recursive mushroom queen.

- This was a honest demo. I liked how the lighting environment changed during some scenes and I have to agree with noby about the kickass wireframe rendering. Some scenes were quite, err, muddy. Maybe a final color correction pass would've helped?

- Some pretty effects and proper graphics tech but the music really is a mood killer.

- This was a delightful movie.
At first it felt a bit slow going and repetitive but it got better after the first half an hour or so.
It was interesting to see demoscene-esque camera direction with a large field of view and long twisting camera paths, even though they felt forced and unecessary at times. Combined with traditional animation techniques, I think it added some experimental mood that made the whole thing more compelling.
The plot was more argumentative than I expected, which is a good thing and actually made watching the film worthwhile. At first I was sure the ending was unfair to the viewer. I expected a real narrative closure and you guys just deceive me like that? After some consideration I realized that it was a way to remind us to cherish what we have right here, right now, instead of reaching towards other (probably) imaginary worlds.
Since this was a scene production it's mandatory to comment the rendering. Well, it was good. Pixar quality and all that. I liked the small visual references to other works.
There is some additional criticism I could express here but I believe such minor matters do not weigh too much. We got a full blown movie with emotional impact and actual characters. It's rough around the edges and it's worth your time. - rulezadded on the 2014-02-23 16:28:53
