- One of those demos I feel ought to receive a more thorough comment. This is a very special demo. It's a slow burner though and took me a while to realize, even though there was no question I liked it on the first sight. It hit me early too, but I guess it was one of those cases where you hurt yourself badly, yet you don't immediately realize just how serious the impact was. So this really is for me maybe the best demo in the last couple years. Now "the best" of something is a silly category yes, but I'm not looking for circumlocutions instead of emphasis.
This is a powerful demo. It's very visceral and demolike, yet feels fresh. The true genius here is the stream of consciousness element, which plays a heavy role across the board. The way everything falls in their respective places while watching this to me is akin to how people describe Joyce's Ulysses. I think it's an essential state of mind to enjoy this fully, because on the surface everything looks very haphazard. There is a beauty to all of the movement, cues and shots. The standard "event x happens at beat y" is taken too much for granted. The syncing is done at a much more discreet, sub-conscious level. There is no objective calculatable rhyme or reason to it, but it just feels right when you remove the thought of it from your mind. Similar technique was employed earlier last year in the demo Intrinsic (and in some earlier productions as well), but this comes even closer to perfection.
The visuals are fantastic. There is something to be said about reflective primitives and whatnot, but it all boils down to their usage. Reflextion doesn't feel limited in that sense. You forget that these elements get used (too) often in contemporary productions. How each effect is used and presented is happens the same way the direction overall does; if it feels right, do it. The audio side complementary to the visuals and obviously just as good as the rest of the production, a breath of fresh air.
Like the text in the beginning says, "Approaching planet". This is a view to an another world, a glimpse into it. In a way, the demo is still going on somewhere out there. I forget who said it when they said comparing real life and films, "in reality there is no 'the end' ". I apply the same concept to watching this demo. The world depicted here never ceases, only the window presented by the demo closes. And I think that's all I intended to say. - isokadded on the 2014-03-21 01:07:06

- First for final! Still great, fixes most of the "flaws" in the party ver. Colors could still use some work, but nevertheless fantastic.

- I'm not sure how many times the PETSCII rendering can carry yet another demo, but for me it still did this time. Also Goto80's stuff is always a delight.
