Yay, so it works on:

- my ATI card (Radeon 9600 Pro, Linux)
- titanstar's ATI card (Radeon 7500 Mobillity, Windows XP)
- our debug machine's ATI card (Radeon 8500, Windows 2000)
- the compo machine (Radeon 9800, Windows XP)

but obviously failing on every other ATI card in the world... okay, _this_ sounds easy to debug... :-/

did not start : geforce 4200 ti 128 leadtek, p4 at1.8g, 1Gb Ram, dx9, win2k sp4 + sp5 patchs
No problems with exe dated 22-04-04 03:47 on:

Win2k sp4, DX9
AMD 1600+
Gf3 Ti200
768MB RAM

Great music, decent effects, excellent attitude! Yes, the design is a bit lacking and yes, there are some empty parts. Looking forward to finalversion; not to mention future 64k intros from you guys. I'll check out the Mac version later today.

You see people, this is a true multi-PC-platform effort! It's compatibility as well as portability is astonishing. That's why it fails to work properly for most of the target audience.

Oh boy, I just needed to say this :)

Nice! Everything is nice in it. Compared with the others intros at the competition entry that's worth a first place.
rulez added on the 2004-04-22 14:22:37 by daddyvx daddyvx
actually, the worst compatibility-issue has been resolved. it was simply a missing dll (that shouldn't been required in the first place, but clumsy release-build made it so anyway) that didn't get reported to the user due to the fact that fsg was used for compression. however, the archive has beed fixed.

Best voronoi effect ever!
Cool vocoder!

now it works! great intro, but i got some terrible "tearing" in the scene with the bouncing cube. Like when you turn vsync off, but there was like a houndred of those "cuts"
rulez added on the 2004-04-22 18:02:52 by Duckers Duckers
"tearing" = "design" duckers. :)

rulez added on the 2004-04-22 18:35:25 by elmindreda elmindreda
It has potential but fails. The effects didnt look so good and the "design" is not good. Repeating the scenes is a bad bad thing :)

A bit too repeating and the snare pushed bit too loud. Big hand for multi-platform efforts

gf4mx: nice working slideshow.

Considering the quality of the other intros released at the gathering, that rank is hardly a surprise.

Okay, now it worked. Looks okay, the strings 'n stuff reminded me of the Mekka 2002 thingy by SK at first. It could have used some more colors and blah, but it's nice enough. I do think Lugoober can do much better tracks though, but I'm not sure if it's the synth itself or the lack of time to get used to it that spoils it :)
(Assuming the samples are generated..)
rulez added on the 2004-04-23 01:52:29 by superplek superplek
thnx plek :)
there are btw no generated samples, this intro has a realtime synth (sanestation). and you're right, we're not used to it yet ;)

trace: What?! ;-)

This was a good intro! I don't know if my GeForce3 did delete some effects but from time to time things tended o be a little boring (ugly). Perhaps an option for higher quality textures would be nice. Don't get me wrong, It had a really nice feel right thru it, good going!

rulez added on the 2004-04-23 13:03:36 by raer raer
definitely a lot better than the previous excess intros. A big thumb up for the platforms. Apparently it requires a lot more from the cpu than the graphics card.

There must be something wrong with the mac version. 1-2 seconds per frame on some parts. 667MHz/Radeon7500.
added on the 2004-04-23 18:07:17 by evil evil
evil: There is nothing wrong, your CPU is simply too slow. The softsynth eats a lot of CPU power in some parts (like the voronoi part), which leaves little left for the graphics.

added on the 2004-04-24 16:05:53 by lug00ber lug00ber
Hurray.
After a minute of jittering and smooth motion alternating, the thing actually hung up after the credits-scene. Hung up as in: music repeating the same 500ms buffer without any progression, zero motion and uberzilch reaction to any type of user interaction.
PIII 1.2ghz + GeForce3. Probably a pbuffer problem, noticed this type of crashes on some new Smode demos as well...
I'm open for testing, so you contact me in that case.
added on the 2004-04-24 16:41:24 by Gargaj Gargaj
Gargaj: Yes, that scene is quite RTT-heavy (to put it mildly), but debugging such things without actually having the machine there isn't all that easy :-) If you come to Solskogen, we can look at it there, perhaps :-)

Pretty plain for the most part, but there were some moments of interest. For example, the green circles overtop the cube's spikes was simple but effective, and the above pictured filter, although lo-res, had potentional.

I really expected the arms supporting the TVs to become animated and do all sorts of goofy things, but alas...
uhm, yes, the mac- and linux-users must chmod stuff to make it executable. fuckings to those OSes!
