Apparently, there's not batman in it...

No batman, but almost only first time effect on cpc (almost fullscreen kaleidoscope, almost fullscreen plasma, almost fullscreen rotozoom in 16 colors)...

Thumb down for releasing these effects before Vanity!!! :)
And thumb up for being so active and bringing a fresh wind on the CPC scene. My only disappointment is the lack of finitions (same problem than Les Experts or Still the Bests!), I'm really attentive to that... Then: very cool to see that you level of code is rising, but take you time for the finitions of Wake Up!

Enjoyed it. Also, ended up way too low.

@octoate: There is no musical loader ;) Everything is loaded at the beginning of the demo.

Yeeeehh congrats to Ultrasyd for the music, it's really well structured, any luck to get it somewhere else?

Code-side, it's really a proof a great progress from you Krusty, and as Hicks already pointed it out I would say I would have expected some kind of polishing.

Message to fullscreen coders : now that you proved you mastered line-to-line splitting for 2D effects (it was about time, Backtro went out in 2003 after all !) - I find it a bit redondant, I would love to see some kind of variations, not in the FX itself but in the way it's shown - cf, I know displaying a logo on top of the effect is impossible, but impossible is challenging, right? :) or on the left/right vertical side, .. whatever.

Anyway, future is promising, great work in a quite small delay !

I think you meant "block us!" right ?

I liked it, especially the music.

Nice job ! Music is awesome, graphics designed with an uncommon fashion for CPC, and code is clever. Just some lakes of polishing (transitions and the demo stops before the end of the tune), but I can understand why. And, ohhh, the vertical scrolltext is unreadable too :-).

@hitchhikr: Of course it is supposed to be 'Block us!'
More info about the name in the nfo file

The music kicks ass!

One more demo for Amstrad CPC is cool ! Especially with the soundtrack of Ultrasyd !!! : )

Fast coded. Fast finished... Stranges colours. Argh !
Just some lakes of polishing (c) Tom&Jerry :)

Very nice CPC demo, the soundtrack by Ultrasyd is awesome! Very well done guys!

It didn't quite do it for me. Kind of like "the effects are just thrown in one after the other". Great code, obviously, ace tune and nice graphics but they don't really blend together.
@Norecess : the soundtrack can be found here : http://ultrasyd.free.fr/Tracks/blocus.rar

for doing the CPC

For some reason it loads in winape32 and then stays there in the red screen. I might try tomorrow on my real CPC. From what I have seen in the live footage so far I like what is there. I think there is enough nice stuff to watch, can't wait to see it on the real thing.

Well, after "Bloc us!" and "Still the bests!", we can say that Krusty did the first fullscreen (or almost) rotozoom in one frame on CPC.

I think there are rumors that Vanity is doing a new demo with some similar rotozoom, So the rush to be the first to release the effect and make a little history is justified, but in return we have an unpolished demo (although a great job for only one month).

About the demo, I like the technical side and attitude (specially the point of self-criticism, which I think is very constructive). Gfx and music are cool also (nice rhino drawing :), but, IMO, the lack of polish is the biggest drag, and reduces the overall feeling of quality. Anyway, a great contribution to the CPC scene, and congrats to all involved!

Great tune, nice graphics, fullscreen effects. Everything was gathered to make a great demo, but there is no direction and polishing. I hope you'll work these points for your next prod and it will be for sure a must! However, Amstrad at Evoke is very cool! Keep the spirit Benediction!

Notable effects and a soundtrack that fits like a glove, although some of the graphics could be better.

Missing thumb (thanks roud'!).
Actually this "thumb up" goes to the most active demo-group on Amstrad CPC since 2000. Respect.
